Our flight this morning had the end clapping removed.. I don't mind the video overall but I do hate the clapping..

i believe that Qantas have removed it now, I don't think its the crew switching it off.

If it is gone - good. It was a truly cringe-worthy effort but not sure which I found more embarrassing - it or the Olympic one with Steve Hooker talking about teamwork (given his efforts in his event)!

Had to watch the video twice in the last day, on an international A330 and a domestic 737. Both times the video was played up to and including the end applause.

Maybe the word has come down from QF High Command that the video must be played in its entirety.

Maybe they should have got Max Walker and Doug Walters to do it - 1980s Tooheys beer ad style.

Spesh if they could have got Hoges to do some sort of cameo -- in the style of before having got his teeth done.

On first flight this morning and it was played right through. Lets see how the next 3 go today!

I'd handle it if it didn't have the clapping in it.

Not to mention the "enter" the plane the wrong way too!

Saw it twice today. Whilst cheesy, it's not that bad - didn't annoy me anything like others have complained in this thread.

As always, YMMV....

so 4 flights today and 4 times it was played to the end...

Four good reasons to scream -- or cry with frustration -- depending on whether you were partaking of vodka or gin at the QPs between flights.

I did a few flights over the New Year period between Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane and the video was played in full to the end (including raucous clapping and high-fiving). With the benefit of exposure to the overwhelming criticism here, I watched the other pax faces and those of the crew -- a general scrunching of noses, grimaces and, by the crew, embarrassed grins. One guy near me stuck his fingers in his ears and put his head down!

I usually try and politely watch the video and safety demo if i am seated near a hostie or an exit row.......i cannot do the same for this one. I just look away and feel like cutting my wrists until it finishes.

Qantas management have stuffed up real bad here. I can't believe it's still going on

QF needs to "get over" the whole novelty video.

Keep it simple - good design and animation will keep people's attention, not to mention save a bucket load of money.

BA of all airlines have had a couple of decent ones in recent years, AA has even improved greatly and taken advantage of better in-flight screen utility. Dang - even JQi gets it reasonably right.

Drop the celebrities and novelties from the safety video and people will watch it more.

See I disagree, i hate the animated videos, i think they look corny and silly. I loathed watching the BA one. the JQi one is the old old old Qantas one. Personally I still liked the JT one, except replace the McDonalds "Team" with crew.

Also as i have mentioned before and regular travel will get jaded with any safety video after a period. For a once a year traveller they would enjoy it.

If it was truly bad, i'm sure it would be plastered over the Qantas Facebook page along with the doggie posts!

I hate it.

I do however feel sorry for the cabin crew who need to hear it more than we do!

Fortunately on most of my flights this month the volume has been turned right down just before the final clapping. The other flights have been on a Dash 8 (or Virgin) so N/A :)
