Platinum [benefits]

That's a really good mindset to have.

Agree.

I find *some* (far from all) people read of others experiences with non published benefits (classic example being the application, or not, of "shadows") and then suddenly expect this as a norm when nowhere is this kind of thing ever published as a benefit. Stuff like F lounge access, or priority check in, or status bonus - totally agree, but the other stuff.. no. This leads to some thinking the unpublished things are in fact to be expected - and that can lead to disappointment when, in my view, there's no grounds for it.

Shadows may be provided when the plane isn't full but if too many passengers rock up then you're not going to get them.

While I agree (to a point) I think an expectation of a genuine unpublished benefit - such as the 3 year average platinum requalification - is one thing.
But what's worse is when people think that anything they have been able to get away with is an unpublished benefit.

I left my mobile at the F check-in and didn't realise until I got to the F lounge where I was greeted with here is your mobile Mr Kremin.

WP benefit ? Not sure but much appreciated. Perhaps wouldn't work for a boogie board

I may have lower expectations than most but I've been thoroughly impressed after hitting WP in June last year (and rather sadly, with a current SC number of 80, unlikely to retain... :( ).
I've got a greeting from the CSM on all but one flight (trans-Tasman) with QF and on EK.
Always get a shadow on QF 737s and even with EK in Y.
Got J bubbles on a domestic 737 once.
Have had one PE award on QF127 released approx 3 months before I flew and hope to try my luck again in Jan 2017 for an F award on QF1 (or 9 if I have to) for Sept/Oct.

It's all little things that make me feel a little valued. :)

When I said that could be difficult I was thinking of the routing via MEL as well. It's pretty certain already some WPs have asked to have extra seats released on at least some of those flights. You're looking for days with high levels of business sale fares available, preferably I9.

Fair enough. All of my fingers and toes will be crossed. :)

I agree it is not the best - but better than the Yarra Burn the had recently IMO

Oh the Yarra Burn is one of the better Australian sparklings, especially the vintage.

Looking forward to finally availing myself of the benefits outlined in this thread. A fairly hectic year of flying that's unlikely to be repeated (although with 600 SC's already booked next year I'll be awfully tempted to have a crack at retaining)

F Lounge visit lined up for next Friday

Enjoy. Be sure to get to the lounge early so that you can make the most of it.

You may want to ring up QANTAS to see if they can expedite sending out your WP card. You do need to be prepared to show this card to get into the FLounge unless flying First.

No you don't. I've never flown F out of Australia or shown my plat card. Your status will come up on your BP if you're flying on an OW airline, unless you don't enter your QF details in your booking.
