Okay I just had my first flight back at WP level after 5 years on a MEL-BNE sitting in 13F exit row seat. It looked like every seat on the plane was taken.

About 20 minutes into the flight one of the attendants come up and welcomed me back to QF by name and moved on down the plane looking at an iPad listing (I'm assuming for WPs / P1s although not sure many would be sitting further back).

PAXs sitting next to me gave me a weird look after that interaction. Probably trying to figure out why that happened and not did them.

That never happened to me on a dom flight last time I was at WP

I've oft wondered if Aeroflot offer a Tsar status... or maybe that's now Commissar :D

Tsar status often comes with hole in the head usually given by a commissar ..... :D

I had 2 flights over the weekend
First one service was outstanding from gate to gate.
- on boarding "welcome back mr sdtravel nice to see you again."
- after take off the csm came down greeting all the wp's giving out bottles of water. Had a nice small chat. "Good to see you, hows your weekend going. See you travel this route a bit is that home for you.
- beverage service "hi mr sdtravel can i get you something to drink" they had a list of wp status pax on the cart.
- disembarking "see you mr sdtravel. Have a great weekend."
All different staff members and felt great all round.

Return flight different.
- on boarding "hello sir, you're in an exit row all bags must be in the overhead. (Was in exit earlier as well)
- no welcome after takeoff. Almost though they were going to but must have been some guy who asked for water and then started a chat.
- beverage service "hello sir can i get you a drink"
There was a blind mum with a baby. They seemed to get great service. Pillow, pre and post departure drink and attendants kept checking on them. I know they might need a little help and flying is stressful for blind Mum's so dont mean to be insensitive here. Glad they were looked after. Just missed that level of service.

First flight was full, dont think the second was. First had refreshments second was a meal. Perhaps some of these things contribute to the wp greetings and so forth. Perhaps at the end of a long day the attendants are at their limit of dealing with everyone same as me. They also just want to go home.

Looking at my forward bookings, I'll retain WP five weeks into my 2017/18 membership year. So will I bother attempting P1? Probably not.

Holy cough! That must be a lot of flying and in the front end as well! Unless you have bookings from the DSC offer from earlier this year...
I'm on track to retain WP 6 months into my new year...

That should be Putin level and then you'd be labelled WP (Wanker Putin)!

That definitely Trumps Tsar status :D

anyway back on topic the above confirms the inconsistent nature of QF - Some crews/CSM's chose to acknowledge status.. others don't.

I don't really care either way but it would be nice if they either always did it or always didn't. (and I prefer it to not happen.. I mean it is a bit embarassing to be singled out like that)

Domestically I've had consistent post departure greetings recently. Two weeks ago the CSM even asked if I knew how to connect to the international terminal when we landed at SYD.

Nice. Would be nice to get asked that when I next have an international connection in SYD.

because you don't know or you want them to ask? sorry I'm a little confused on this point.

Besides on flights into SYD the general announcement tells you to go to gate 15, or T2 for JQ and all that

Haven't transited to international via SYD very often yet. It's nice to have some better treatment as a WP.

Nice to have, sure, but as an adult traveller responsible for my travel arrangements I'd be doing my own research and planning. I certainly wouldn't be leaving it to the care of the cabin crew or get upset if they don't volunteer any information. It's really not their job nor should this be a frequent flyer benefit. Just my view.

This reaction is why I dislike the greetings done at the seat. I'm happy with just a "welcome back" on scanning BP or entering the plane but neither is necessary.

I actually didnt mind the greeting on the weekend. To each their own i guess. Its nice to get a special welcome.
While it may interrupt whatever you were doing (watching or listening to something) I didnt mind it.
After travelling Int Y+ and J recently and Dom J i note that most of these flights that with CSM will come around and say Hi and check in on how you are going.

IM not worried too much what everyone else in Y thinks of me or being judged. If i was i wouldnt use the premium boarding lane or sit in an exit row. All the death stares from everyone else still heading down the back while i settle in. (Not the best example but i assume you get what i mean)

Again, to each their own. QF tries to do what they can but cant make everyone 100% happy all the time.

Perhaps QF needs to provide its WPs and crew with a secret guide for where a WP would like a personalised, in-seat greet, vs. being left to relax and/or decide whether or not to figure out whether there is anything new (yet) on the IFE.

I can even see them sending out some special WP red handkerchiefs with the WP welcome pack, that a WP would wear in a pocket or place discreetly near their person, as a quiet reference for the crew to recognise there is no need to recognise this very frequent flyer, on this very occasion. No red handkerchief? Then crew may go to town with the oft awkward kneeling and iPad lookup manoeuvre... ;)

Me, personally, I don't mind the greeting... so probably would just put my WP red handkerchief on eBay.

Cheers,
Matt.

I've just clicked over into WP, and I really didn't expect too much difference from SG other than what's published.

During the next domestic Y trip the CSM came up to greet before the f&b service began and asked my wife and I if there was anything he could get for us. I replied that a couple of glasses of bubbly from the front end would be nice and voila, he happily returned with them.

i know it's probably not the norm and it does not seem like much but it was a great intro to platinum for me!!
Another case of the little things making a difference maybe.

Well I'm OK. as a P1 in Y I've never had so much as a hi from anyone. Problem sorted!! :D
