I rarely fly with others but do occasionally fly with AA.
Definitely like the DSC which I was hoping maybe getting to P1 this year

The Platinum Bonus Reward is a different thing to Platinum One. So unless they've changed DSC to not count towards P1 as well this change should have no effect on going for that.

The Platinum Bonus reward would benefit me, but as I don't have a partner Partner Platinum from P1 would be useless to me.

And for those who may have missed it.. QF's newletter states only QF and JQ(JQ/3K/GK/BL) group flight *numbers* will qualify for the Plat Bonus Reward (aka 2400 SCs) from March 13, 2018.

I'm super big on avoiding countless new threads on the same (or broadly the same) topics but this is a significant change not particularly in line with the original theme of this thread so I reckon it deserves its own.

For me, the change is disappointing.

This item (or something similar) does not appear on my lowly LTG version of the newsletter...
Yes, it's missing from my bronze daughter's too.
Which could be interesting for those who hit the 2400 mark, expecting the bonus, but haven't been notified of the changed T&Cs.

Major bummer. I was hoping to qualify for that this year but doesnt look i'll get 2400 on QF metal to get it.

What you earn before the 13th March will still qualify under the old rules. Fortunately for me I'll have quite a lot of SCs before the change giving me a reasonable chance of getting to Partner Gold. But in subsequent years without the help of DSCs I'm highly unlikely to make it.

The thread title is Platinum [benefits] I do not see how the change to "Platinum Bonus Reward" is not appropriate for this thread. It may warrant its own thread for some, but I do not see how it doesn't apply here. *shrug* I was trying to be appropriate.

I was on QF 130 last week in business and the CSM did the standard greeting for all passenger and the two passenger ahead of me got the "welcome aboard Mr.x". When he got to me he first said " Welcome aboard Mr. Haplo", then he looked at his passenger manifest and said "my apologies, welcome back Mr. Haplo".

Small difference but definitely makes you feel welcomed back to QF.

Old thread but i thought i would post it anyway.
Called up the WP line yesterday for my NB friend who is travelling with me on separate PNR.
Was able to get them to assign a seat for him so he doesnt have to pay the $90 fee for seat selection.

Strangely though they still didnt let him sit in anything forward of row 51 on the 744. Despite me being able to see seats free they said that they wouldnt give him anything more forward. They are reserved and cant be allocated. I guess they still want to reserve seats for other status pax. I was in 43A so ive had to move back to row 60 to sit next to him.

Hang up and call again. You’ll get someone who will do it - assuming the seats are free. I’ve never had issues seating TCP in 43/44 with me.

What michaele said. It works for any status as you are travelling together (even on separate bookings). Managed to get my friend to sit next to me travelling in December (even though seats were blocked)

It's worked for me in the past, as well... though in March I called up and got the premium line, explained the situation, and though the PNRs were kindly linked in the back-end, she still could or would not get us into seats together, further forward. SWMBO is SG, so I had to go back to row about row 10 on the 738 we were flying on to assign seats together. Didn't matter too much, as everything opened up at T-80 and we selected Row 5.

Ditto here, wife is P, me mere Bronze and we had booked two seats PER/SIN in Y. Rang the P Line and lodged an upgrade request for both of us, that was OK, but though they confirmed her Y seat 4E, would not confirm mine in 4F unless we paid a $35 fee.

From my experience it is easy just get them to link the bookings and you are on your way to sitting together (WP member)
