Hey All,

I just reached WP (Woo Hoo!) this morning and am waiting till the esteemed package of my card arrives!

Since I've seen the Platinum One benefits thread and didn't see one for lowly Platinum's I think we should start one.

So, what have you WP's gotten in terms of status recognition when flying QF, EK or OW Airlines?

-calmelb

p.s. Thanks for all your help in teaching me the workings of the QFF system!

Congratulations Calmelb!

To start this off, last September I received an OPUP from business to first on the SYD-DXB leg of my flight to Copenhagen.
Flying on QF metal.
I've also had nice greetings on QF flights and even nicer greetings on EK flights.
But for my money the best benefits are the OW benefits.
Access to the MH First Class lounge in KUL, and to the CX First lounges in HKG is definitely worthwhile.
The loyalty recognition by both airlines was superb.

Congrats! Welcome to the club!

My partner and I were given two rows (4 seats each) of economy last week of QF10 from LHR TO MEL. Had such a good sleep, plus has J amenity packs, blankets and duvets, F food menu and very attentive FAs!

Wasn't upgraded but it was the next best thing!

Congratulations on achieving Platinum.

Used to get 3-4 op-ups a year since becoming Platinum in 2007. I think I have had 1 op-ups the past 2 years. A welcome here or there. Sat in First class with business service.

Too many Platinums.

Time to book a JQ35 visit to the SYD F Lounge. That is my favourite benefit.

On one ISA-BNE flight, the attendant took pity on me and allowed me to pour my own gin and tonic in J.

Also received a very unexpected and welcome OpUp on my DOH-HKG flight with CK. Was an 8 hour midnight flight booked on a sale fare through QR. Very happy.

In Colombia I get to choose row 1 seats - OW emerald is a good thing to have - First Lounges are always good :)

Congrats and welcome to the club calmelb. Hope it lasts for a long time and you're here in a few years offering assistance to newbies seeking to attain WP for the first time.

Oh, and the W in WP is not meant to be literal when dealing with staff or other pax. :)

Congratulations!!! The F lounges are sensational, better recognition and the op ups especially on CX and EK are sensational!

* Nary a hint of an opup in 7+ years of WP, domestic or international;

* Occasional extra chat from a CSM when in J or F (points upgrade) but usually no particular recognition, domestic or international on QF; EK made a fuss once, when I was on F on them;

* Have had an award J seat opened up for me on MEL/SYD-LHR and MEL/SYD-LAX a number of times, when 2-3 months out and no availability showing; only refused once, when enquired 2 weeks out. This is a material benefit, and useful

* Access to F lounges worldwide is the best consistently available benefit for me

* Seating priority/availability another significant benefit for me

* Priority boarding on OW airlines (other than Qantas, where it often doesn't exist) is useful - was extremely handy on LAN flights recently

* Priority in getting things sorted when things go pear shaped

Finding JQ35 in the schedule is getting harder and harder though.

As for Platinum Benefits, 3/8 Business to First Op Ups on Emirates (081 issued ticket, QF code) last year speak for itself.
Other than that,
good treatment while flying QFi (blocked out 2 rows of 4 in economy for a friend and I on our way back from Singapore; offered J wine while in Y on the way to Singapore)
depending on the crew, you'll get "recognized" on domestic flights

Though the best benefit is the ability to get Qantas to release an award seat on a Qantas operated flight where none are available. Used this to book myself QF F back from LAX later this year. Very helpful!

Congrats!

Love the First Lounges.

i have had a couple of Op Ups, totally depends on availability, etc, etc. (BNE-SYD Y to J, and MEL-DXB J to F for three pax each time). I've also had some recognition on AA as OWE, got to go on Standby for a flight from DFW on Sat which meant I Arrived 4hrs earlier than my booking. AndO was offered a free $4 snack on the flight ... :p
Also scored a CX Y to J flight once ...

Congrats on making WP.

As with the others I feel the prime benefits are:

- access to F lounges, specially QF in SYD/MEL/LAX but even the Flagship lounges at LAX/ORD (I think there's one a JFK?) are great(compared to the normal Admirals club) and other F lounges around the system (eg: using The Wing at HKG prior to a AY longhaul was lovely).
- Never had an op up, but all my upgrade requests J-F on flights to/from LAX and LHR *did* clear, if maybe at the last minute. I'd say zero chance of this at SG level.

Sometimes greeted on board, sometimes not.. that stuff doesn't worry me too much (same at WP1 level).

No difference at all in flying. Have used platinum line a few times to sort out problems and that has been great. Asked once for an award seat to be released for daughter and that was denied.

I know thread jacks are frowned upon, umm, you know, as a QF WP/WP1 flyer, is the phone number at the back of the card still 131131 but you get priority service, or do you get a VERY special separate phone number, ie, a 1800 phone number.
Not that I will ever get to WP/P1, so thats why I am asking. Not all that rich, and no "company" to pay for my travels.
You dont have to disclose the phone number though.

Basically yes. your ff# you input when you call then directs you (in theory) to a priority queue. Almost always I've called and got a (very quick) pick up by "QANTAS Premium" for reservations.

That is for res. The P1 SST is a very separate thing (and not really relevant to this thread anyway :) )

I have a gigantic sample of one but there seems to be an amazing difference in wait times. When I was having my mini drama with being downgraded to business I phoned Australia put in my FF no and was answered immediately, then got cut off and had to phone back and had trouble entering my FF no, so ended up on the non priority queue. after waiting 20 minutes and still in the queue I hung up and dialled again, managed to put my Ff no in and once again was answered immediately.
