PJs and using on flights

This is in no way criticism of your post but I'm not very bright on the sunniest of days.

I wear singlet, business/casual shirt, jacket, long business pants, socks and shoes and I'm quite comfortable to the point where I'm content.

What is more comfortable than already comfortable? T-shirt, shorts/tracky dacks and thongs? No thanks. Not this lifetime. I have more important things that need my focus.

True, but you generally prefer to fly economy. Do you wear a business shirt, jacket and long business pants to bed? If you don't do it at home, why do it on a plane?

Because I don't sleep with 300+ people in my bed.

My opinion is pyjamas should not be worn in public. I won't wear them. Hoping the person next to me doesn't wear pyjamas. Thankfully very rare in economy. I've never seen it. No one wore pyjamas on 2 recent TG flights either in premium cabins.

My thoughts.

P.S. I have worn my day clothes to sleep many times.

I promise I am always clean :) if a perhaps a tad daggy

I wonder if it is because it is a 'bed' so bed attire e.g. pjs are worn?

Your cleanliness was never in question. I stryggle to understand the extra comfort people strive for in public. Maybe one day.

Just like wearing t-shirt and jeans to work as opposed to comfortable business shirt and slacks. They are both exactly the same comfort wise. In fact my business shirt and slacks are more comfortable.

I wear Pj pants in Y because it’s more comfortable than 10+ hours in jeans.

JohnK, I am in awe that there is a facet of Life that it appears we are completely in agreement on!!

I grew up in Chile, and in that environment, wearing shorts in public was a no-no. Unless you were on a beach. Likewise going barefoot in public. I learnt this all too well as my mother did both :)

Anyway, I am somewhat "old-fashioned" in that way. So I would never wear my pyjamas to the supermarket. And on a plane I prefer to be in jeans and t-shirt than PJ's - because I am not in a private space.

But those personal feelings are restrictions on me only - I understand everyone else's differences of feeling, and thus their garb.

I don't possess pyjamas at home and haven't since I left boarding school a very long time ago. I sleep in what nature provided or, at most, boxer shorts.

I just see airline PJs as pretty much a form of tracksuit-like attire, so I don't perceive them as 'pyjamas' - ie. a la my old kid's flannelette bed garb.

I take a tshirt and yoga pants to sleep/ hang out in regardless of cabin I am flying. I invariably find planes too warm and hate that icky feeling of slept in clothes.

I also find the process of changing (after meal when I brush my teeth) is one of the cues I give my brain/ body that it’s time to sleep.

I’ve done the whole new top over old one, remove old one from underneath a number of times and change from yoga pants to leggings in a J seat under a blanket too.

Vic, you are welcome. But you seem to have missed an all important word in my post - it referred to those "strutting".

The majority in the J cabin change swiftly, settle in for rest, etc. They are not who I am referring to. It is those (usually in PE, but sometimes in Y), who seem to make a great point in walking around for ages in every single direction.

Prance - Strut Tomato, tomato.

Personally, I prefer to strut down to economy in my PJs with a glass of champagne when I want to show off. It has much more impact. Certainly not strutting around you sitting in Business.

Besides the real frequent flyers leave their PJs screwed up on the seat as they exit the plane. They don't take them home for the kids to paint in, Captain Von Trapp style.

Please...the real way of showing off is the Y pax wearing F pyjamas strutting through the J cabin to use the J toilets ;)

Conversely , I have occasionally been guilty of entering the slums in my pj's in search of rapid relief .. and getting a few "looks" in the process...another argument for dressing inconspicuously….

clothes get creased by sitting in a confined space.
Do as the maestro does.

blankets are hardly every washed or dry cleaned between passengers

Interesting question .. anyone know the answer ??

I fear that blankets are hardly every washed or dry cleaned between passengers.

On Singapore Airlines I am pretty sure they are packaged in plastic (well they definitely are in the economy cabin), If they're not cleaned, they go to an awful lot of trouble to fold and repackage the blankets

You must feel really uncomfortable to be seen in clothes you consider to be unacceptable, for the physical discomfort to be that much less important to your overall comfort!

There are only two places to wear pyjamas; in hospital and on the plane.
I very much hope that those who wear nothing to bed at home at least wear PJ’s on the ‘plane ... :D

T-shirt and jeans? In my opinion slacks are heaps more comfortable than jeans any day. You can disagree.

As for t-shirt, shorts and thongs that's only acceptable at the beach. Nowhere else.

Once it's above 25 degrees I wear shorts, t-shirt and runners whenever possible. Plus a hat when outside!

Not even looked at here in Bangkok or at home.

Oh, and I don't do beaches. But if I did Speedos aren't considered appropriate for my body shape. :p
