PJs and using on flights

I personally never do but understaNd why others like to. What I don’t understand though is people changing before take-off. What if there’s an emergency or other need to deplane?

I noted on my SQ flight last night the security briefing instructed people to keep their shoes on until after take-off. Common sense to me, but I guess like QF having to tell pax they don’t allow anyone to sleep on the floor, not everyone thinks alike.

I always change before take off on a long haul. I like to get comfortable and avoid the rush. I also change into pjs on a day flight as I hate sleeping in my clothes. Also I’m usually traveling in a dress or skirt as I don’t wear pants often.

I don't get changed or take off my shoes until up in the air, in case there's the need to evacuate, or more likely - delays/technical issues needing to disembark.

Even wore my QF pjs in Y on a flight from Beijing to Honolulu last year when I left it to late and business class was full. Even convinced hubby to wear pjs too and all was well till the air hostess came up to us and said " Oh twins" !!!!!. The look on hubby's face was priceless. He's still traumatized lol. Don't think he'll wear pjs ever again on a flight. He was already traumatized having to fly Y lol.

Does anyone know if PJs are issued on QF107 SYD-PEK?

As a mostly day flight I’m thinking it’s a good chance to show them off behind the curtain? :p

Seriously though... I have three long-haul overnighters with non-PJ airlines later in the trip and I’m trying to cut down the packing.

Can pack a pair if required.

Thanks in advance.

I did QF107 a few weeks ago and I think they are! And they are for sure offered on the return QF108. I didn't use them either way as I think they are a bit of a pain.

But I now have a couple more pairs at home... :)

Thanks. Will go without and hope they have them.

Not worried about the return as I’m on the 36 ex. SIN in Y:eek:

Don't change until after take off and as someone said keep my shoes on as well.

Only change into the top and keep my jeans on, like having some things in my pocket like passport and money, always jeans for long haul. That way my shirt is clean when I get off.

I'm still fascinated by those who are already hopping up and down the aisle in their Kangaroo suits, as I'm boarding. Good on them. I love it. Boing, boing, boing …..

Anyway, I'm never in that much of a hurry and prefer to wait until after the meal/drinks service.

Yes. Very unisex. A pair of Eastern Greys discovered in Y. ;)

As a matter of practicality, I like to change between takeoff and meal service. Your PJ's may be disposable but it's unlikely you wear-aboard clothes are. Change back after the pre-arrival meal to get ready for landing for the same reason.

As a naked sleeper, anything else just doesn't feel the same. I find the QF pjs fantastic and the Martin Grant refresh is an enhancement, just brought a pair in off the line, in fact I can often be found lounging around the house in them (lounge being the operative word here). How anybody can say that structured, non stretch clothing is as comfortable (I am talking jeans really), just has a different concept of comfort I guess. Bus class pj's are for the correct class of travel cabin and the privacy of your own home, I draw the line at onboard bars, Qatar, Emirates and soon the QF revamp, but mainly that QR A380 bar, it would have to be one of the nicest spaces on any plane ever.

100% agree, however I have now been caught out on a couple of occasions with time zone and daylight savings changes depending on the dates. This is only an issue when traveling with the family in Mar-Apr and Sep-Oct school holidays. It is truely first would issue.

My son in law loves the QF PJs I donated to him a couple of years ago. He’s tall and long limbed so fit perfectly. I’ve hung on to the SQ ones as they are a lot shorter etc.

I did have the experience of being abused after suggesting to a woman in full make-up, blonde hair perfectly choiffed wearing heels and QF PJs driving a black Jeep, that it would be better if she parked entirely within her parking space. I started talking to her politely, but when I noticed what she was wearing I got the giggles, I’m sure she thought I was insane and got really angry.

For some reason you’ve judt made these inflight bars reminiscent of a 90’s rave ... full of inebriated people in PJ’s ... do they hand out glow sticks? :)

I am sure some people think the SQ Givenchy pyjamas are the equivalent of a track suit.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Flying during the day you don't crease your clothes, have any chance of spilling food or beverages on your clothes, or have need of a snooze on an 11 hour flight. So PJs are not needed.
Not really true as it depends where you started. Eg on the flight DXB - SYD commenced at 9.30am and pjs were handed out and after food service the cabin closed down for sleep. We didn’t need it but those coming in from Europe did.

I think there was an element of sarcasm in @MEL_Traveller post.
