Worst comes to worst, I might need to brush up on my TagalogNice to know. I am looking at making some booking and was going to get a bit creative.
Ring up and see what can be done.Hi all,
I had a very successful 280k trip for 2 in 2016. I want to do another in June 2020 and trying to get back up to speed on this.
A tentative plan is: SYD-NRT-CTS; CTS-HEL; HEL-CFU; CFU-MAD-CMN; RAK-LHR; MXP-HKG-SYD
As far as HEL seems ok but HEL-CFU seems a problem. Finnair have a direct flight, but all the dates I trial show three flights with transfers somewhere in Scandinavia and in London. Is HEL-CFU going to be impossible?
Also CFU-MAD-CMN seems difficult. The Iberian flights don't come up. The Qantas site shows some CFU-LHR-DOH-CMN, but this seems very round about.
I'm not sure what availability there might be to fly home from MXP. I'd prefer QR or CX.
Do people think this will work out, or should I revise my plans?
Interesting indeed. Would have been more than happy to book MNL-HKG with a stopover then HKG-FRA on CX and then later drop the MNL-HKG sector and still have the entire trip priced in Peso...
That sounds promising...
Now we need to determine whether the co-payments & taxes are being calculated according to Japanese rules or Australian rules.
Nice to know. I am looking at making some booking and was going to get a bit creative.

So looking for some advice about booking legs that are in high demand and timing.
At the moment am looking at 2 pax in J
BNE-SIN (3days) -CMB-MLE (4days)-DOH-CDG (10days)-HEL-DOH (over 2days)-SYD
Checking for J seats in these legs consistenly for a few days shows that there is availability but it gets snapped up pretty quick (in less than 1hr sometimes)
As the flights are pretty spread out is my only option book the leg that opens first (T-361days) and just keep calling the QF team each time the next leg gets to T-361 and adding it?
Two of the legs MLE-DOH-CDG and HEL-DOH-SYD actually fall over two calendar days so would I just book MLE-DOH one day and the next day book DOH-CDG and the same for HEL-DOH then DOH-SYD?
Thanks

Unfortunately, yes. Book as soon as you can see the seats. For that reason it's not at all uncommon for the 140k/280k/420k to cost significantly more once changes are taken into account.
From memory, Qatar uses married segment logic which means while you may find MLE-DOH, for example, you may not find MLE-xDOH-CDG. But, again, book when it comes available. The upside with HEL-SYD is that there are a number of options other than via DOH so if points are an issue, you may consider holding off booking that one until all the flights you need are available. You also have a tonne of miles up your sleeve (as in the maximum number of miles you can fly on this award) and as you're flying in J I'd absolutely be looking to maximise that.
Transfer (as opposed to a Stop), i.e. <24 hrsWhat does the small x signify?
Scenario - I want to travel from TYO to WAW in J (my preference is to fly via DOH) Search on QF and flights are mostly mixed with EK. If I search segments separately, I can find availability TYO to DOH and DOH to WAW on QR. Would this fall within the rules? Could I also mix carriers doing this?
Thanks. I was aware that I could not include EK which is why I was seeking an alternative but I did not make that clear.Having two separate QR legs is within the rules. So you could book TYO-DOH-WAW legitimately
You cannot include EK. EK is not a Oneworld member.
Ok, this is what I was worried about as I don’t want DOH to be a stop. Could I work around this by mixing carriers? JL from TYO to DOH and then QR DOH to WAW or would the fact that it’s on the same ticket cause the same issues?QR does have married segment issues. Although it doesn’t seem as bad as it once was. You can solve that by spending 24 hours in DOH, but it’ll obviously count as a stop. Also a reminder that you can have two transits AND a stop in the same city, so you can sacrifice a stop but gain an additional transit through Doha.
My concern was that QR was not making the trip TYO to WAW available for a reason and would therefore not be bookable as part of the award.
Unfortunately not (that I'm aware of anyway). Searching via BA may be easier.Hi,
I do a lot of searches on the QFF award site and find it frustrating that the search engine defaults to economy class in the " Search Travel Class' page.
I add business class or whatever and that is fine
but when i click on the "modify search" or "back " buttons , the search reverts back to the economy seats only.
I find this very frustrating.
Is there a fix for this?
Ta for that .Unfortunately not (that I'm aware of anyway). Searching via BA may be easier.
