@knightfall88 and @SelfFundedWP when I picked up x2 QR F a couple of years back I rang QF, who informed me that they would contact QR for release. By the following morning the QR F booking was in my QF account. I am not sure if the process has changed. From memory I could not see the F seats via the QF site, I just called up to give it a shot and it worked.

Heads-up for anyone looking to fly from South Africa to Europe with Oneworld: Iberia is discontinuing JNB-MAD from the end of August.

I'm currently booked on the following in J
AKL-HKG (CX)
HKG-FRA (CX) - LHR (BA)
INV-LHR (BA) - HND (JL)
NRT-SYD (JL)

I'm thinking of dropping the initial AKL-HKG which will change the point of sale to HKG. I don't have enough QF points to complete a dummy booking online to see the difference in charges on QF moving from NZD to HKD. Could anyone do me a favour and check what the difference would be? I have had to make some ongoing changes to this booking with QF to add sectors as they became available and the experience with QF on the phone has been nothing short of appalling so I would rather avoid speaking to them.

I'm thinking of dropping the initial AKL-HKG which will change the point of sale to HKG.

I'm not sure dropping the first leg would change the PoS to HK. I actually thought of doing the same to my booking last year but was told by the Qantas CSR (and others on this forum) that dropping the first leg wouldn't change the PoS of an existing booking. So I didn't end up trying. Would be interested to know if this works for you.

It could be an outrageously good opportunity if you can start with POS MNL and then drop the first flight. Keen to know more.

Yes, you CAN backtrack. This is NOT a RTW award. You can travel in any direction from anywhere (subject to the stop & transit rules, total distance, etc.)

Interesting indeed. Would have been more than happy to book MNL-HKG with a stopover then HKG-FRA on CX and then later drop the MNL-HKG sector and still have the entire trip priced in Peso...

I had my booking start with a Tokyo to Vancouver leg, which has ended up being my 3rd flight. Starting trip in Perth and any emails I receive are from Japanese office and taxes have to be calculated from Yen to AUD

That sounds promising...
Now we need to determine whether the co-payments & taxes are being calculated according to Japanese rules or Australian rules.

I have to say my taxes were quite cheap. I added on 2 BA flights and a CX flight and it was an extra $97 in taxes.

Then it might be time to invoke Fight Club rule #1....

Hi all,

I had a very successful 280k trip for 2 in 2016. I want to do another in June 2020 and trying to get back up to speed on this.

A tentative plan is: SYD-NRT-CTS; CTS-HEL; HEL-CFU; CFU-MAD-CMN; RAK-LHR; MXP-HKG-SYD

As far as HEL seems ok but HEL-CFU seems a problem. Finnair have a direct flight, but all the dates I trial show three flights with transfers somewhere in Scandinavia and in London. Is HEL-CFU going to be impossible?

Also CFU-MAD-CMN seems difficult. The Iberian flights don't come up. The Qantas site shows some CFU-LHR-DOH-CMN, but this seems very round about.

I'm not sure what availability there might be to fly home from MXP. I'd prefer QR or CX.

Do people think this will work out, or should I revise my plans?
