Perhaps they feel SYDneysiders already go around in circles enough? :p
I did test yesterday ex MEL & LAX; while the base fares were returned, nothing useful was obtained by clicking the

Still no luck with Expertflyer for those fares. However I finally googled "DCIRC22 FARE" and bizarrely was linked to this webpage adn a another search on the page for "DCIRC" took me to this post - seomthing about it looks familiar ;)

Moral of the story: I would call AA in the US and have them take a look at the reservation. It could be that they are allowed to charge the fuel fine in Oz, but not in the US, who knows? BTW, I found a good many AA reps at the SYD reservation office to be somewhat unhelpful and/or uninformed (same is true for UA res. agents there). If there is a way of reading a rule in a more restrictive manner, leave it to the Ozzie reps to do that. I will only call them to get the most basic info, certainly not to book or ticket a complex itinerary.

The pricing is not from Australia ; all pricing for the OW tickets such as OWEs/GLOBs/CIRCs are sent to Dublin. I called the AA ATW desk in the US to book a DCIRC22 and pricing was done and came out at
AUD7178 plus AUD233 taxes (total AUD7411). The normal price for a DCIRC22 is AUD7029 and AA has added AUD149 to the base fare in relation to fuel surcharges. The addition of USD55 to Transpacific/Transatlantic flights came in on 01/03/06

I queried the base fare with the AA agent at the ATW desk in the USA and they explained that the fare difference is due to fuel fines. Nothing to do with AA in Sydney

Even so, it is still much better value than booking through QF who were going to charge AUD7029 + AUD658 (AUD7687 ) .

Dave

Based on a A$7K fare I think its unlikely that I can work a DCIRC22 into my return to Shagnhai next year. Not a drama. If I can swing the 40K DONE4 then I will be almost there. My aim migth be next year to hit EXP before my second DONE4 trip of the year so that mrssimongr can enjoy the F lounge :D That would be a feat :D

I have not seen anything returned in the fare rules for xCIRxx fares on ExpertFlyer. But you can get the fares by setting origin and destination the same, select some OneWorld airlines that operate from that location, and set Filter Results to No.

Exactly, fares but no rules.

Here's a link to cristep's XL spreadsheets which may be of help.

Our of interest is there any where that lists the circle pacific fares in the same way that I can get the DONE4 fares? Just going through my mind for travel next year how I can be a little more tricky ;) Just thinking of flying SYD-LAX-HKG-PVG-HKG-SYD - seeing if it is the same price as a SYD-PVG-SYD fare...
Seem to have sidetracked here; anyway, the current ex SYD Circle Pacific fares are:
Code:
LCIR22 3069.00 (AUD)
LCIR26 3739.00 (AUD)
LCIR29SA 4399.00 (AUD)

DCIR22 7029.00 (AUD)
DCIR26 8579.00 (AUD)
DCIR29SA 10079.00 (AUD)

ACIR22 9149.00 (AUD)
ACIR26 11169.00 (AUD)
ACIR29SA 13119.00 (AUD)

Thanks for that. One interesting thing is the minimum of two stopovers. One concern for me might be that someone might see this as a cheaper way to fly me to New York than a DONE4  Looks like I might be burying this one ;)

I don't think that you can do JFK on a DCIRC22 though

Yes, you can just make. SYD-JFK-NRT-SYD will come in just under.

If you start/finish in BNE, its a litle easier and can include a little more such as bne-lax-las-ord-lga-ord-nrt-bne and still have almost 1000 miles for a side trip from LAX or ORD.

Just a quick bump. I just changed my flight home tonight so am leaving at 7PM rather than midnight :D (mind you I did give up my nice 2K window seat)

Quick question. i am travelling first class on CX tonight. So I will acecss the first CX lounge. My colleague is travelling upper class on Virgin at about the same time. WE are both QF SG and I am Aa Plat so no free access to the lounge. Do I tell just to frack off to the Virgin lounge or can I guest him into the F Lounge? Failing that do I just go to the J lounge - but do we both need to be flying oneworld?

I think you both need to be on eligible flight marketed and operated by OneWorld.

Lounge Acccess.

I think you are right - but the Cathay staff were very nice and put a note on my lounge pass "+01 guest" so my colleague and I had a nice dinner together before departing on separate planes :)
