New QF points calculator

It will be interesting to see how they handle some of the mielage-based routes far from home with partners.
You don't have to go very far. To fly from SIN to HKG in discount Y, I earn 802 points on AA code, and 801 points on CX code.

I am travelling PE with BA DXB-LHR later this year and the calculator tells me it will earn 50SC but the table suggests 30SC as it is between the Middle East and the UK. I wonder which source is more reliable when they disagree?

You may have to wait and inform us after travelling .

They might be playing around with the distances.....the tool has my BA J LHR-ATH at 60SC despite the table chart detailing 80SC. GCM has it at 1510mi.......those 10mi are worth 20SC

Hopefully pilots have access to more reliable information when calculating distances between airports! ;)

QF should invite AFF to beta test website updates based on this thread...lots of free work done they could leverage.

Anyone having issues with the calculator, when i click on the Earning Points Calculator it only gives me the option of FF Category Types and no actual calculator.

Rob

I have to say, the new calculator is a dream to use on everything but my iPhone, but the lesson there is not to use my iPhone :p

Such a big step up, congrats to the QF team who built this!

You think QF would have included OWE airlines that service Australia eg JAL

Not really, the whole point of the simpler & fairer mentality is that you should be penalised for having the audacity of flying on OW members in/out of Australia. Only AB, S7 and US should be in that calculator;)

A good time waster too, eh? Meaning it in a nice way, of course.
Playing around, this means that if we/I book, SYD to AKL with an EK flight code, it earns 671 points than if booking a QF flight code, where its 1000 points across the "ditch".
They (QF) are really starting to keep their $ close to themselves, encouraging us to "fly" with a QF code only, at all cost. And if we dare to stray, we pay, by not only earning less, using Au to NZ as a eg, QF and EK, that you MUST fly with a QF code to earn the most.
Equality (as I know it) has gone out the window.

All animals are equal, four legs good 2 legs better....

Why is one of QF main competitors, CX already listed and not JAL?

Was using the calculator to work out status credits between Hong Kong and Tokyo, and only CX and AA listed, NO JAL.

I don't know why they didn't load all flights from all carriers, but RedRoo candidly admitted that the calculator was a work in progress...so we can only wait...
In your case, I'm pretty sure CX results should also apply to JAL.

What he said ^^^.

Red Roo confirmed other partners to be loaded in and since all partners are treated as scum, they will all earn the same SCs for any given route.

Mr_Orange...I had same problem here - using IE9.
Just to see if calculator was buggy or not actually up and running I opened it in Google Chrome and it appeared and worked.
Try a different browser? Or maybe someone here may be IT whizz and need to check some options in tools on IE?

Well, there is your problem. IE9, possibly one of the worst browsers available. IE11 is the current version, although I still wouldn't use that either. I use Aurora (Firefox Alpha) and the current Firefox Beta.

Works well in Chrome, but it has been a while since the first upload, and they haven't loaded AY yet so can't be sure what my 6 flights will earn (although using other partner earns on similar mileage is probably good enough to calculate SCs).

And I am intrigued with the fact that J on BA ATH-LHR seems to earn as many status credits as J on CX SYD-HKG. I have a few BA flights early next year, and it has been good to see what the earn will be, although of course very frustrating to see the SCs generally between 50-60% of what they once were with partner airlines.
