So 547 bottles of champagne each day on QF9/10??? Or is there champagne in the lounge? I thought AusBT mentioned champers was only for CL/P1.

Champagne may be available to F pax and P1/CL as with the other "combined" lounges?

They changed the article - Champagne is not listed as an available beverage.

What the heck; no champagne???

I am NOT an animal! I am a human being. I am a man.

Bring me my champagne. I demand satisfaction!

We're going to get the facts on the fizz later this evening / tomorrow AM when the lounge opens to the public – we were led to believe there'd be the usual (at least for SIN and HKG) 'under the counter' champers for F/CL and maybe P1s but Alan Joyce didn't call that during a quick Q&A on the lounge's 'F perks' (of which there appear to be very few) – yet there was champagne at the launch, which could have been an event-only thing as is sometimes the case... in any regard, this time tomorrow should see this burning question resolved!

Quick report from the new Lounge.

First surprise is that it's a "quiet lounge", i.e. they are not announcing flights, even QF10. Today it is overloaded with nervous staff, obviously a mix of newbies and experienced hands. Everyone is very anxious to please. Probably only 40 customers at 9:30am.

The smell of fresh paint and new wood is pervasive but not unpleasant. The paint finishing in the bathroom would not pass muster on The Block, obviously wrapped up in a hurry. Quite a range of seating options. Annoyingly the power points - while plentiful - are along the walls where the seats are not.

The better food selection is upstairs, but the formal dining is downstairs. As well as a reasonable range of breakfast options, a Brunch menu is offered. Today it is a choice between Eggs Benedict, quinoa kedgeree with salmon, and a mushroom bruschetta salad. The kedgeree was good but just two tiny thumbnails of salmon.

And for those who were worrying, I saw Champagne served to one woman who was clearly being given the first class treatment.

Being not P1 nor CL, when I am not one of the up to 14 Daily F PAX, if I want french bubbles, I'll simply head nearby to the the FlAAgship or the CX lounges ... BA is also an option.

Just read your ABT article on the lunge - looks great, but surely we all know that the gin selection and very fancy menus will disappear quietly after a few months?

And I looked for the other Qantas 'signature' for its generation of one-class lounges - polished concrete floors - but couldn't see any?

Which surely would cost QF a lot more than having champas on offer in its own lounge...... Penny wise pound foolish as they say

I'l take that bet, and even give you a generous six months (let's set the date as May 30, 2018) rather than just 'a few months' – shall we agree to the wager being a bottle of Four Pillars, deliverable by online order to the winner?

Not a bet (?obviously) but I'm up to a challenge. I'll be there next February and will sharply appraise the facilities - taking careful note of every gin on offer (by tasting, if needs be! :D ) and will re-inspect when I'm through there again (time TBA but sometime later next year).

Four Pillars? Sniff Sullivans Cove No. 4 for me.

Reading the 'QF press release' (aka the Ausbt review), I also noted that the 'under the table' sparkling available to P1/CL/F pax is 'Petaluma Croser'.

This happens to be the same sparking that VA serve to their J pax on domestic transcons (and possibly other routes)...

I will appreciate the pre departure sparking a little more next time on VA knowing I would need to be a P1/CL/F pax to get the same thing on QF.

Interesting that the 'QF press release' did not note this as well...
