New Qantas Lounge Heathrow Terminal 3

Overall, I will reserve judgement until I can see the evening options but if visiting prior to 5.30pm I would definitely recommend CX.

I still haven't fully recovered from the shock of my evening visit to write a response to the SST. If I had to summarise the lounge in one word, it would be CHEAP - the decor, the ambience, the food, the service. After all tbe hype, this is not a premium lounge.

As one example, this is the dinner menu in the restaurant. Who would consider any of these options a meal before a 20.45 flight?

Upstairs there was curry a la a domestic J lounge.

The lounge was packed with non-QF passengers, and the new staff seemed overwhelmed.

I only lasted 10 min. The F host said other people's experiences were similar and encouraged me to provide feedback.

I suspect J PAX & eligible Sapphires will be keen to use the lounge, not so much those of First or Emerald.

QP have little choice.

As for the bubbles, in the "Qantas International Lounges" at HKG, BNE and SIN, sparking wine is generally available; Champagne is on request for those who have the right markings on their BP's (CL, P1, First) and perhaps others ViP's.

Croser is not a bad drop in my experience and better than what is being served in the other four "international" lounges.

I had similar experience when the Qantas HKG 'international lounge' opened I felt it was underwhelming especially for a
Plat and above.
I now exclusively only goto CX F lounges in HKG, with the occasional pop into the QF lounge to see what the go is, I would say it is a bit better than when it opened but still no match for CX lounges.

Also out of curiosity how did you know they were non-qf pax?

By not giving Champagne to WP they’re effectively encouraging them not to use the QF Lounge or at least spend some of their time in the CX or BA FLounge so that they can have the option to have champagne should they wish to. This makes little sense to me. Surely it would be cheaper for QF if WP passengers only visited the QF Lounge.

Indeed... I’m often taken aback at how many Platinums i meet who have NO idea that they can use the lounge of another Oneworld airline, apart from those instances when their Qantas boarding pass directs them to a non-Qantas lounge.

Scotch eggs and pickled onions? If that's 'premium' then I've been using the wrong dictionary all my life.

Without having visited this lounge (but why let that stop me?) it looks to be little different to HKG: loud and crowded at peak times with the only difference to roughing it outside with the masses being the availability of free booze. I'm very happy to forgo the 927 varieties of gin at the bar and hide in CX F.

I wonder how much the QF WP/SG/QP use of the DXB lounges is costing?

It may be a significant factor in the decision to go via SIN next year.

There are OW T3 evening flights to New York, Hong Kong, and South Africa that leave before QF2, so regardless of which OW lounge you're in, you see the relevant wave of people departing.

In my case, most of my 10 minutes was spent trying to get to a table and then puzzling over that strange menu in the restaurant, which was full of the Americans. Unfortunately, the tables are so packed together, you quickly get to know far more than you wanted to about your fellow loungers.

QF have also been shoveling up hot dogs, meat pies and chicken parma etc on transcon J flights recently, so this must be the 'premium' cuisine that QF customers have been requesting...

The menu is the same as when I was there on 2.12.17 as a QF F pax. I had the Lancashire (lamb) hotpot which was very average....after I got permission from @Mal, I made a beeline for the Cx F lounge for a proper dinner and a decent red :)

I love the EK F lounge at Dxb...recently I had the steak AND scallops, washed down with French Bordeaux! :)...didn't eat anything when I reboarded QF 1 to Lhr ;)

I'm not a frequent traveler through LHR, but sounds like I won't need to change my general approach - CX F for a meal, then when time allows the BA F lounge for self-pour JW Blue and some peace and quiet.

Such a shame a brand new lounge, for a port with F flights, has the now somewhat standard, poor J international lounge.

There are now 4 oneworld lounges in LHR T3, 3 of which have First class sections. BA, CX, AA and QF.

All 4 lounges are near each other, with the CX and QF lounges by the entrance to the Gate 1-11 concourse, and the BA and AA lounges by the entrance to the Gate 13-22 concourse. Heathrow Hubmaps
The T3 A380 gates are 1, 3, 5, 7 and 42
