Hmmm, can I be sneakily and take Mrs LW away for her birthday (25th) , drop kids at my parents and make a weekend of it with AF'ers?

Gold x 2 - will check with babysitters

Naturally we Brisbane based folk will more than likely have a few seats spare, alternatively if you can schedule an arrival by say 8PM Friday and are happy to leave around noon Sunday, some us us could probably grab a Kia 8 seater for $200 + fuel for the weekend and split the costs:

Depending on what I am doing at the time, I may be able to bring the NM bus to take a load from Brisbane. At this stage I have no idea about my availability late June. More comfortable than a Kia Carnival, but seats max of 7.
 
Well I'll probably only be able to fly down on the Sat...... Will no doubt have to shift swap and work Friday to get the weekend off.

But as we get closer - perhaps we can keep a list of the potential "BNE arriving pax"......
 
Another Option Might be to arrange a bus. The company we use for work (index) usually costs around $400 for 32 seats (I think) for BNE to Surfers.
 
I will be coming from BNE also Sat as likely to working there on Fri. Good idea to check in closer to date and see what we can coordinate.
 
I am sure we can organize transport for both Saturday and Friday arrivals, I will be there with my 3 year old so if anyone also wants to share babysitting costs, I am in! Would bring him along but he is likely to talk everyone's ears off!

I don't know why I was thinking Mid Year AFF Xmas Drinks & Dinner in the early hours of this morning( I really need to see someone about this ) , but the thought came to me as a result of the change of venue , besides the Hilton SP being a big winner in now hosting the event , a close 2nd would be VA , considering that the majority of interstaters are now likely to be flying with VA into OOL ( is there anyone even remotely thinking of using JQ ? ).

With the new VA OOL lounge likely (fingers crossed) to be opened by then , I thought it might be an idea that VA sponsored a "Finals Drinks " or "OOL Lounge Appreciation Visit " ( what we call it will depend on how we pitch it to VA) in their lounge for an 60-90 mins on the Sunday afternoon around a TBD time that the majority of interstate AFFers were flying home. This would likely be the 1st opportunity for many of us to visit the new VA OOL Lounge assuming that it is opened by then.

A couple times I had in mind for the event depending on when the majority plan to leave on the Sunday 1st July

Event - 13.30-15.00

to connect with
MEL - DJ740 - 14.50
SYD - DJ528 - 15.00

Event - 16.30-18.00

to connect with
MEL - DJ746 - 17.40
SYD - DJ540 - 18.00

Thoughts / Comments / Feedback ?
 
I dont think there would be a need for DJ to sponsor such a thing, as its likely that there will be more than enough guesting privileges amongst the DJ plats to ensure everyone can get in anyway.

Your probably right , between the DJ Plats & Gold there should be enough. I hadn't thought of the guesting access . Now I think of it i will be Gold by then .
 
I'm platinum, hotel has been booked.

I'll most likely be driving down from brisbane and would be happy to pick people up on the way.
