Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

Quick one, with hopefully an easy answer... myself, Mrs Colster and the two mini colsters are flying Syd-JNB QF J class. We then transit (different tickets) to a BA whY class to CPT. I am OWE and the others NB. Can we use the JNB SLOW lounge in JNB by presenting our QF J boarding passes?

Thanks

QF FLounge access

Passenger 1: WP with QF but travelling MH in J
Passenger 2: travelling CX in J

P1 has access to QF Flounge (SYD T1)
P2 has access to QF JLounge (SYD T2)

Can P1 guest P2 in?

I think the correct interpretation is that P1 is a WP with QF travelling on a OW operated and marketed flight and guest must be also on same flight . Rather than P1 is a OWE...

Ok so the FLounge agent prefers the better interpretation - the QF WP is a OWE when travelling on a OW marketed and operated flight.

Bump to see if I can get an answer :)

Hey all, just posted on Lounge meetups to offer my guesting services so just wanted to clarify...

Am QF SG and travelling in J on QF AKL-SYD-DRW / DRW-MEL-AKL

When I am in MEL, I have 5 hours and would like to work - and guest someone from AFF if they need.
Are my options the following?
1) Dom J Lounge with 1 guest does not need to be travelling
2) Int J Lounge with 1 guest but must be on same flight
3) EK Lounge - I don't know how guesting works here?

Actually they do count under the *O connecting flights rule (Long Haul to short haul) if the CPT ticket is *O. This is the case even on separate tickets. I suggest @Colster retain ex SYD BP's to show.
That’s what I told a friend who asked me that same question in January. Same itinerary. However was denied. Hopefully YMMV is more positive this time

Well, I will definitely keep the BPs. Thanks for your assistance. I hopefully will remember to update this thread with a successful report :)

1) Outbound AKL I can guest 2 but both must be on same flight?
2) Outbound SYD I can guest 1 (anyone) in to Dom J by virtue of J ticket i.e they dont have to be on my flight
3) Return DRW I can guest 2 (anyone) by virtue of J ticket and SG, they don't even need to be travelling
4) Return MEL. Here I can go in to the Mel Dom J with 1 guest (anyone), right? OR I can go to Intl J lounge and guest 1 but must be on same flight (by virtue of J ticket) and guest 1 who must be travelling on a Oneworld flight. OR I can to to EK Intl Lounge and I'm not sure of my guesting rights...

Sorry for all the details, but it appears the nuance is different in almost every lounge situation! Any insight most appreciated.

Appreciate that this is a little long but would love any advice as I can then offer my guesting services accordingly.

Quick question then. If QF SG and travelling in J do you generally get two guests allowed? one from J ticket one from SG ?

Sorry nope :

J = 1 guest total
J + SG = 1 guest total

So Int J lounge:
1 guest who needs to be travelling same flight or one World.

Domestic J lounge
1 guest who does not need to travel on any flight

*****Only one guest*****

Awesome thanks for the reply.

Just checked though and at AKL Intl J Lounge, they have to be on same flight (oneworld wont work)

Hi All AFF's
We are flying J return - 2 pax - ADL - HKG. Over via Melb, return via Brisbane. (787) next week.
Can we please gain your insights regarding lounge access and recommendations.
Have noticed a number of posts that aren't too favourable regarding the Aust. QF lounges.
TIA

Just discovered this thread and it immediately provided an answer to a question I have had for a long time regarding flying F or J DOM in the US so thanks for that. I now realise that a Star Alliance Gold will get me access, even if not flying F or J. I missed out on access recently when flying UA MIA-SFO just because I did not ask!! Should have read AFF before I departed. :(

Hi Flying CGK - KUL - LHR next month on Malaysian Airlines economy.
I have Qantas Gold status (one world emerald) does anyone know which (if any) lounges I will have access to in KUL (terminal M) and LHR (terminal 4)?? Many thanks :)

My wife and I are doing our first OneWorld Award 280,000 points trip in June/July (business class). Our 18 yr old daughter is doing the award flights with us in economy. We are quite inexperienced on the issue of lounge access so this is probably a simple question: Will we be able to take our daughter into the Oneworld lounges as a guest prior to our flights?

Mostly no, unless one of you has Sapphire or higher status.
Exceptions would be QF flight / lounge combos where business pax are allowed one guest on the same flight.
I'm unaware if any other ow airlines have similar provisions, I know CX for example do not.
