Lindsay's 1,000th post?? Prize up for grabs

Well, only being 94 posts ahead of NM...I think it is all down to how much time we can spend on AFF and as oz_mark said, what threads are there where we can post information to...I'm not going to be posting to pad my post count.

May I suggest 2 prizes - first is one night with you, second is 2 nights with you!!!

Don't quite know how to take this infoworks  :D. I am also concerned what my wife will think

I just want to make sure that I don't get there before the deadline I set in the first post, to give everybody a chance to win the prize.
Does that mean my original guess is invalid? Sufrely you are not going to change your AFF form to manipulate the results :D :D .

Posting is always going to be sporadic, as its the very nature of people who drop by here that we regularly travel. It just happens that my travel has been slower this last month that it was for the few months prior, so I have less unavailable time sitting on planes.

JohnK, I fear I should have put more emphasis on the end of my sentence, not the beginning. Your interpretation of my post was not my intended meaning. I'm sure you'll get there, not just anytime soon...(maybe in a year or so, in line with your own extrapolation of the posting data).

Perish the thought :p No, I am not going to manipulate the result (although I would love to see the right person win and benefit from the prize, perhaps a junior poster).

NM, congratulations on 800 posts  - as you advised, your own posting numbers have been skewed by your ability to have time to put into AFF. What else was there to do in the KL Hilton at night  during your lengthy sojourn there - and now that you have caught up again with Mrs NM and mini-NM's; peace reigns in your household.

Yes, it is good to be home from those trips. 5 times to KL this year is too many times, as nice a place as it is. And yes, many of my posts did come from the KL Hilton :) .

No Problem Lindsay I understood what you were saying.

Lindsay is the prize still available if NM beats you to the millenium? :D

Firstly, arun you need to go back to your post on page 1 of this thread and add in a time...otherwise you could fail to win the prize. Wouldn't want you to be disappointed.

Talking of which:

Wow, a bottle of 1996 Grange Hermatage!
Not sure I've heard about that wine . Heh, I'm generous NM, but not that generous. I've got a bottle of 1976 Grange Hermitage down for my 40th birthday in 2 years.

Now that I have cracked 900 with this post, you still want to lay that bet?? Irrespective of who get's there first, yes the prize remains on offer.

Now where are those other 1100 memnbers who haven't put their guess in?? Waiting for closer to the deadline :?:  ...

Well, you know how much of a wine Philistine I am  . A bottle from 1967 might be interesting to dig out for your milestone 8) . I was going to indulge in a 40 y/o scotch for my milestone, but could not bring myself to the cost.

And congratulations on 900 posts. Only 100 to go 8) .

Lindsay, NM is only 91 behind now. Tough choice. A wise man told me once don't have a bet on a two-horse race (two-man race in this case) as you never win.

What are "memnbers"?. Deadline is this Friday? I think a few of them are waiting to see the posting trends over the next few days. :D

How old did you say that grand hermit was?

So which one of us is the man and which one is the horse? I know I am feeling knackered, so is that the clue?

Thinks: Fool, Money, Parted

Neither of you is the horse. There is always one in the crowd.

I have edited the post that originally read as "two-horse (man in this case) race" so that it now reads "two-horse race (two-man race in this case)". :p

Hopefully you won't feel like a horse, I meant knackered, anymore.

I still think NM is a possibility. Now we will just have to watch your form down the home stretch to the 1000 mark

(just how far can we stretch this horse analogy)

oz_mark, the 40th birthday list will be exclusive...we'll be drinking (from my cellar) Grange, St Henri, 707 and Moss Wood with mains, then for dessert Noble One Reisling.

So I still have the doubters and naysayers that think NM will beat me. Love a challenge

Statistically NM should be a shoe in. We all know how statistics can lie though don't we.

I'll still back Lindsay Wilson though.

8) :D :p

By my calculations if you two continue these trends (and btw there are only 2 things certain in life and that is taxes & charges but that is for another thread :D ) you will reach 1,000 posts in ~146.5 days which would be ~24 Feb 2006 and NM would reach 1,000 posts in ~100.6 days which would be ~9 Jan 2006.

So my scientific theory proves that NM will reach the millenium first. :D :p :D

Based on my back of envelope calculations*, I should get to the 1000 posts in about 12 years time.

*No calculators were harmed in making this calculation

10.47 pm October 30th :D is my best guess!

I don't nessassarily think that NM will beat you, more that it is a distinct possibility. As time goes by though, I think it less likely

Now that could prove to be my challenge  . Naah, Lindsay richly deserves the accolades for reaching that milestone first. I just post a lot of jibberish along the way :p .

Besides, I would need a 2:1 posting rate compared with LW between now and 1000, and that's not gonna happen.

Don't be too self-depreciative, NM :?. I know for a fact that statement is coff b*llsh*t coff

Yes, its 914:824 at the moment, so your statistical analysis is correct. I thought that would be your greatest hurdle to overcome. But I'll be away Thursday/Friday next week in SYD and CBR with little acccess...heh, maybe I should wait for you and we can post our 1K message together!! A combined celebration.
