I left the Blue on the shelf last night and went with the Laphroaig!

BTW Lindsay has added 13 posts since ~11:30pm last night (EST). It is a little more than his lifetime batting average of 3/4 posts per day. Now sitting on 888 posts and at around 20 posts per day (current batting average) the 1000th post should be well before prize deadline!!!!
Sorry to disappoint, JohnK, but that was a remarkable posting day. As you can notice, not much posted yesterday or today (I'll blame workload). I also won't have a chance to post much over the weekend (friends staying with us). So nothing is assured.

As jasonja3 said, best of luck to all.

Well, you had better get moving or I will reach the milestone before you! And that just would not be right :D

I'm in for 2 November @ 6.21 pm. However the race with NM might get interesting as well.

(Insert taking foot out of mouth smiley here)
I thought I had it all worked out.    Boy was I wrong. :? That blue label was tasting so good. :(

Now I just have to guess like everyone else :) No more calculated scientific guesses. :p

My money is on NM to reach the millenium first. :D :p

JohnK, NM has a couple of posts to do before he catches me, let alone get to 1K post. I'll still back myself to get there first.

Hey Lindsay at least you notched up another post. :D

You are currently on 891 posts and NM is on 799 posts. My scientific theory :? and purely for scientific reasons :? is that NM has the momentum. You joined on 21 June 2002 so by my warped ( :? ) calculations you have been a member for 1198 days and your average posts per day is .743739565943238731218697829716194 (I am certain there are more decimal places in this calculation ( :? ) but my calculator stops at this point) where as NM joined on 27 Aug 2004 and has been a member for 400 days and average posts per day of 1.9975 :p

By my calculations if you two continue these trends (and btw there are only 2 things certain in life and that is taxes & charges but that is for another thread :D ) you will reach 1,000 posts in ~146.5 days which would be ~24 Feb 2006 and NM would reach 1,000 posts in ~100.6 days which would be ~9 Jan 2006.

So my scientific theory proves that NM will reach the millenium first. :D :p :D

Totally off topic, and only for those interested in statistics :D , I joined on 22 March 2005 which means I have been a member for 193 days, I have 74 posts and I have averaged 0.383419689119170984455958549222798 posts per day and by my calculations I will reach the millenium in ~2407 days at ~4 Apr 2012. I am sure you will get premium odds on me getting the millenium first. If anyone places a bet on me reaching the millenium first I am sure that is a realistic possibility  if there was some incentive for me to achieve this target. :D :D :D

Unfortunately life does not always work the way we all want and favourites do not always win (damn those horses :D ) otherwise I would have been retired by now and would not to be contemplating status run's for achieving silver next year   .

You and NM are the only ones that can control your destiny. May the best poster win the millenium race.

By my reckoning NM is the only one that has a chance (and NM looks like he has the form) to get to 1000 before you. Ultimately, I think it is all going to depend on what topics get thrown up between now and one of them making it to 1000.

JohnK, great perspicacity. Momentum based on past statistics is exectly that...the past is not indicative of the future (with this actually coming from a financial planner). I think mark_oz's view is very pertinent...

I just want to make sure that I don't get there before the deadline I set in the first post, to give everybody a chance to win the prize.

Don't think I want to take odds on you getting to 1K posts just yet...

You know something I don't know. :D I plan to be alive for at least another 9 years so hopefully I will make the 1,000 posts around 2012 unless I get booted off AFF or it is no longer around. Never say never to anything.

In many areas the past is a good indication of the future. Many a decision is based on studying past trends and that includes shares, property (7 year cycles), sport etc.

I know posting trends are not easily predictable for all the reasons you and others have mentioned, but unless you or NM go post crazy in the immediate future I still think NM holds the momentum to carry him over the line first. And please do not take this as disrespect, on the contrary you are a very valuable member of the AFF discussion board who has helped many a person in the past and hopefully for many years to come. I think that speaks for itself.

Anyway just having a bit of fun in the "race to the first millenium" :D
