I’ve left my Hilton status to slide as their hotels for where I’m travelling most are pretty underwhelming and aged but might take advantage of the 90 day match for a holiday in future…

So is the thought that if you are already HH Gold no upgrade?

Correct. They can’t upgrade you if you’re already Gold.

I was expecting yo drop to Silver before my request was processed but I’m still showing Gold and they’ve rejected my SM quicker than I was expecting. I’ll have to monitor status and apply again if Necessary.

Not complaining if I stay Gold for the rest of the year but going for Diamond would be handy.

I notice that in early posts from 2018/19, Hilton was status matching from Gold to Platinum, but that seems to have disappeared. Has anyone successfully matched platinum from another chain to HH Diamond? Or am I just blue-sky dreaming?

On another question, if my wife status matches successfully from Bonvoy to HH Gold, do award stays qualify for keeping Gold or upgrading to Diamond in the 90-day period? I'm not sure if the T&C's wording on "award stays" relates to the qualifying conditions from the external hotel chain you are matching to.

In the past, reward nights have counted but the LL article I posted just above suggests they do not.

It's called out in the FAQs:


7. Do Reward Stays count toward achieving the night requirements? No, Reward Stays do not count toward achieving the Status Match requirements.
 
Ah, HH status finally dropped to Silver.

Take 2 on Fast-track submitted.
 
Interestingly I dropped to member today, so looks like the fast track hasn't applied correctly - emailed again, else will apply again for the status match...

Well, the good news is that they’re processing the SM applications quickly. The bad news is “computer says no” again. No idea why - possibly “IHG Diamond” ≠ “Spire” in the drop down list….🤨

Maybe retry with Accor Gold….? 😔

This is the list on the SM page. Dang, Accor is missing but I could try “Other”….

Thanks @SYD , my post was off topic and not clear sorry - I am already HH Diamond, I was trying to ask who I could use my HH status to get a status match with
Not many at the moment AFAIK.

Well, I gave up on SM and just fired off my VA comp Gold. Which was processed *very* quickly. The app updated about 2 days later and an email confirmation (Gold to 31 Mar 2025) just arrived.

Curiously, I’ve done the SM at least once before, possibly 2 or more but the current Ts&Cs says:

5. How many times can I use this benefit?Qualifying members may enact this exclusive benefit once throughout the lifetime of their membership

Yet, when I entered my details, it confirmed I was “eligible”.

Anyway, I’ll see what’s on offer in April 2025.

Does anyone know: if you fail the status match challenge, in my case i won't have stayed the 7 or 12 nights to retain/upgrade the trial status, can you request it again in the future? Timing was just off this time for me :(

Not according to the FAQ's.

10. What if I decide that I want to save this benefit for a later time, but I have already submitted my Status Match request? Once a member elects to use this benefit and the Status Match is successfully applied to their account, this action is considered final and is not reversible. Please determine the best time to use this benefit according to your personal travel situation before submitting your request through the online form. Remember, you can only use Status Match once, so use it when you really need it.

I really should have first stay while waiting for the challenge to begin, they wouldn't count it despite delays their end.
Be wary if chasing this!
 
So ended up qualifying for diamond under the promo which needed registration by 31/3. Is there anywhere in the app that shows when your status is due to expire?

A tiny bit confused as the app is showing "you need 40 nights to retain Diamond" though the website is showing "congratulations on reaching diamond" and points/nights activity without a retain target.

The app (unusually) provides better information than the website. For example, accumulated and required "Stays" are not shown on the desktop portal.

How many stays are showing as required for Diamond?
