Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

Sorry to quote myself, but I suspect this question got lost amidst all the furore over the changes. Does anyone have any experience of booking a LAN QF codeshare as a JASA please?

TIA.

I did an online JASA last year that came up with an LA sector. It was PER-SYD(QF)-AKL(QF)-SCL(LA)-SYD(QF)-PER(QF).

This structure was just the way it dropped out on the dates I wanted.

Sorry - just realised you were asking about success phoning. Anyway, I can't see why it wouldn't be possible if a U class seat is available.

Booked a MASA for Mrs Dalek on Thursday night and then dropped her off at the airport today for her first solo status run. It was a quick and easy process with Ann(e) on the premium desk and we had a chat about the changes coming although they seem to know less than us.

It will get Mrs Dalek to Platinum for the first time. Ironic really given she has also been bemused (and bored) when I talk about the things we love to talk about on AFF.

We don't really need the two of us to be WP's but the adult kids have decided now they like travelling with us and the delights of Flounging :D. And with only 40 SC required by Monday to make it even she could see the sense in a few hours in the air.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

My understanding from Red Roo and the QF website is any U/P bookings as an ASA booked until June 30 will earn at the new J/F rates if flown after 1/7.My feeling will be at normal rates not the flexible rates.

My belief is the same as your understanding. Hope we aren't disappointed.

I Can't understand why they would want to remove them...

  1. They make a lot of money off points in the first place, so removal of any sort of redemption will affect this revenue stream to some degree.
  2. When booking a JASA/MASA/xASA or whatever you want to call them, there is also a significant payment of Cash required...more revenue.
  3. These types of bookings are more lucrative for Qantas than the basic vanilla classic version (excluding the points & SC earn)
  4. The points earn is trivial when compared with other "easy" points such as 10 point per $ voucher promotions.
  5. The SC earn, while significant has a good effect on "customer retention / loyalty" so can also be seen as a positive to the bottom line.
  6. People that are using these types of bookings for status, don't really fly enough anyway to clog up the usual high tier status perks.

I'm pretty sure that they know if these fares are removed then there will be some effect to pax flying habits, not easily measured but I'm thinking they dont want to take the risk.

If they were going to go...they'd be gone already...

All very logical....THEREFORE totally been changed as we all know !

One more success for me. Extended wait on the phone just to get to speak to an agent though, but he dealt with my request without fuss. He did offer to charge me 7000 points for the booking but I politely declined and reminded him that JASAs cannot be booked online. No reference to RoQ 7740 required.

Thumbs up to our good friends at Qantas who have finally answered the age old question: "Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?"

Clearly the answer is yes, too many people have had success. :)

Yes. If you book a MASA next week for a post 1 July travel, you will still earn, but it will be at the new rate.
If you book a MASA today, you will earn at the existing rate.
You will not be able to book a U class MASA from the 1st of July onwards.

I believe that mASAs booked before 27th March will earn at the current rate.
Those booked from today for flights before 1 July will earn at the current rate.
Those booked for flights after July 1 will earn at the new rate.

mASAs will not be able to be booked after 1 July but the online ASAs will.

This is just my understanding from the comments made by Red Roo, and reading of the recent emails and posts on the Heads up about program changes thread.

It will require further clarification to be sure.

Paging Red Roo to the white courtesy phone...
That is my understanding as well JessicaTam as it gives them the required 3 months notice period. I see that the missing information is shown in red below:

Such a simple omission, but so important to a lot of us. My JASA was booked on 28th and is showing in my bookings, but haven't received the e-ticket (I'm sure Ticketing was overloaded in those days). About to go and request another copy.

Mine, booked yesterday hasn't ticketed either, when they normally ticket within the hour. My JASA is for travel post 1st July so new earn rate, but I think for BNE-SYD-BNE it is the same - 40SCs each way.

Spoke to soon, it just ticketed :).

So booking and flying a JASA before 1 July 2014 would earn at the old rate?

(hothead)

No, it doesn't seem to serfty, but then again, I'm not sure where to look as I haven't used CMT system for years

I booked one on Monday that hasn't been ticketed and no ticket number appears on CMT. Yet I booked a couple of paid-for flights yesterday that have been ticketed.

I booked a JASA about a month ago. After prodding by a AFFers I went back to them over pts and $ as 2 of 4 legs were in I not U. Sure enough QF agreed initial booking wrong and fixed it so now all in U. MMB shows all confirmed, but no ticket reissue, no ticket number in CMT and no refund of pts or $. Rang several times and get story that it is in some folder and will rise to the top sometime before I fly in August.

Yes, mine's an August booking too, so I am not that worried about it - at the moment.
