Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

Makes no sense to me!

I'll book tomorrow, as it seems by booking tomorrow, which is 90 mins away I will get 29250 points instead of 22473 for a LAX-SYD in F MASA

Exactly and it may change again

Either way for an F seat LAX-SYD waiting another day or three and it may be gone anyways so I'll book now and see what happens...

From my current reading it should either earn current F SC/points, or under the new scheme the same SC and more points (I think)

I am in the same boat. I just worry that ONE way to read the wonderful new shiny T and Cs is that the new earn rate is a big fat duck egg. There are many contradictions outlined here and other threads by the more astute posters.
The people doing this have rushed to print without sufficient proof reading

Indeed, different QF pages have different information

I have screenshots of what they say at the moment and will be using that when/if points don't credit as I expect them too

Yes. If you book a MASA next week for a post 1 July travel, you will still earn, but it will be at the new rate.
If you book a MASA today, you will earn at the existing rate.
You will not be able to book a U class MASA from the 1st of July onwards.
Based on Red Roo's advice above, tonite, I booked a Jasa Syd-Bne-Tsv return for March 2015, expecting to earn today's existing SC earn rate (40+60+60+40), not the new rate of 40SCs for Bne-Tsv in J.....Let's see what happens.....

Hopefully it tickets tonight as well.

The latest incarnation of the FAQs says: If you have flights booked (booked and ticketed prior to Sat 29 Mar 2014) for travel on/after 1 July 2014, you will earn the Qantas Points and Status credits that applied at the time you made your booking.

But they're clearly still making it up as they go along.

another interpretation is that we have until June 30. Very very confusing
Have a look at the thread.

RR has stated that you can still book MASA until 30th June (for onward dates) but the earn will be at the new rates. Mostly you will be worse off but if you are talking about long haul F or J you are then better off than if you had booked it today.

However, it seems that if we book from tomorrow, up until the end of June for travel after the 1st of July they will be classed as J/F bookings which seems to be increased points/SC's
...
I have not yet looked closely ... but it depends on a few things, but the route is important, more importantly, some international routes do indeed appear to be going to earn more SC's while some domestic will apparently earn less SC's.

Straitman. Thanks and hello. I can assure you I've read every post in all the two main threads about this. And carefully read the QFF web site.
I don't think it's as clear as you think.
Nevertheless I shall book a few and if needed refer any later issues to RR (if they are still around). Or you if they are not? ;)

I have read, and re-read as much as I can and am happy enough with

Q: When do these changes take effect?
A: The changes are effective for travel on and from 1 July 2014. This means if you book on/after 29 March 2014, for travel on or after 1 July 2014 you will earn Qantas Points and Status credits in line with these new Airline Earning Tables.

Q: What if I've already booked?
A: If you have flights booked (booked and ticketed prior to Sat 29 Mar 2014) for travel on/after 1 July 2014, you will earn the Qantas Points and Status credits that applied at the time you made your booking. The applicable Qantas Points will be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer Account approximately four weeks after the dates of the flight(s) taken.

Taken from Frequent Flyer - Program - Fairer Flying FAQs

Although that page has changed a few times I'd say the latest version will be what will happen IMO

I will book a few flights tomorrow as the flights I want will earn the same SC and more FF points :)

Which raises another question. Changing the final date for something being ticketed to March 28 was probably meant as an appeasement... but what about someone who booked yesterday (based on miraculous comprehension skills) who would have been better off under the new rules.

Ah, stuff it all.

I would assume it would earn at the same rate as the D and I fare buckets.

Wrong assumption mate! Any fare bucket earns at its own rate; the rate might be the same as another fare bucket, but to say a fare bucket that is not in the earn table would earn the same as a fare bucket that is, is IMHO a false assumption.

my apologies - the new earn table applies. So if it is '0' then it's '0'

As for Red Roo's assurances... they have erred before when passing on information.

Sorry MEL_Traveller, I did not mean to come across as rude... the profanity was more of an emphasis and out of frustration...

So SYD-ASP booked as a JASA under the NEW structure would be a Medium Flight, going off https://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/program/regions which states Domestic Australia Mid Flights are flights between 751 miles and 1,500 miles.

Which books as a Flexible Business fare
New 70 SC
Old 80 SC

As for points earned, seems to be slightly less
Old as Plat = 3143
New as Plat 2350+1100=3450

Does this seem right ?
