Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card

While a biller will acknowledge that the payment as received on the day the BPay payment has been made, this does not mean that the credit will be available in the time between the day of BPay payment and the day the actual funds are available.

So, in the example, say a payment is made on Monday, but the funds arrive on Thursday, they will be acknowledged as having been there since Monday. However, if you card is maxxed out on Monday, you will not be able to use the card for purchases on Tuesday or Wednesday.

That's absolutely valid but is why I prefer to have very high credit limits. I rarely use even ten per cent of the limit on most cards but on the occasion I need it, its there. If one card happened to get maxed out, then there is another card or two available.

Others have their reasons for preferring small limits - even to the extent of requesting the offered limit be reduced - and that's fine but not for me.

Richard.

Re: Crystal Ball gazers.......

Given the number of blank looks I get when I ask them to scan my card, I tend to think that there aren't that many cards out there - certainly not gazillions.
Yes yes I too see the lack of awareness regarding this card - so then maybe the take up of this product has not been that extensive - again maybe we will need to see more rewards / bonii offered to increase take up going forward.

I always pay my credit card on the due date, before my bank’s cut-off time, and, thus far, have never had an issue.

Thanks for the heads-up on the code of practise. Judging by other responses here, something must be 'up' with my account - I'll look into it.

I could understand if payments went missing for a few days then magically appeared showing the correct date stamp, but this is not happening for me, its taking 4 days to see payments and the date of payment is being recorded as an apparently random day inside that 4 day period.

Can I ask who your paying institution is ?

Its a 2nd tier bank (ie, not one of the 4 majors) I pay almost everything monthly via this bank though and don't normally have any problems or undue delays.

Your Bpay may also be being treated as if it needs a clearance period like a cheque :(

The credit limit then doesn't reduce for an additional 3 days

Is it just me or do we all think we are being fleeced these days with such pathetic financial services available to us.

I'm currently fighting with my financial institution for limiting how I spend my own money...! Bpay capped to $5k is bad enough but to be told you cant transfer more than $5k between multiple accounts in your name at the same bank is simply mind-boggling.

I'm not a big spender by any means, but surely a limit of $5k these days is a friggin joke or something

Sorry....Rant over, sorry for going off topic too...!!

Change banks. I have hit this problem in the past with smaller banks and credit unions.

The bank I use now allows extremely large transfers without any problems. Occasionally, if the transfer is uncharacteristically large I'll get an email from the bank straight after the transfer asking me to ring them if the transfer was not authorised but otherwise its smooth sailing.

I've just seen my first statement online earlier and noticed that I have been charged interest of $0.15 eventhough I've never taken up cash advance through the ATM.....

Hey, delfredo. Just going back over this thread. Did they ever fix up the over-charging?

No it wasn't an overcharge. I bought some lotto tickets on ozlotteries.com and they treated that as cash advance so I incurred interest charge on this transaction effective immediately. Some other banks like NAB treat this as a normal purchase instead of cash advance.

Do you have the same issue?

I certainly had that problem with ozlotteries.com. When I queried WW they indicated it was the merchant that decided the nature of the transaction (but previous purchases with a different card was not treated as a cash advance). When I asked OzLotteries, they said it was up to the card provider.

That led to another issue. When I checked the T&Cs to work out how payments are applied I found it basicly said they will apply payments how they like. Not very helpful - unlike other cards which are generally very precise as to how payments are applied.

Because I didnt know what the interest was applicable, the purchase in December incurred interest over two months. Only $1.12 in total for the $50 but I was concerned it would affect the interest free period for other purchases.

Its all very suspicious. I won't go into a deal unless the conditions are made plain. Plainly telling me that they will make up their minds about interest or not on the day is no where near clear enough for me.

Never had this sort of monkey business in twenty years of using plastic and not willing to play the guessing game whenever I make a purchase. So, WW card gets WW purchases and thats it for me (food and fuel). Other cards in the wallet earn as well in QFF points and are a more certain quantity.

It's up to the provider to classify transactions as purchase or cash advance. HSBC Australia probably adopted the same policy as its UK parent.

BBC NEWS | Business | HSBC raises card fees for betting

From memory, Citibank has a similar policy (those applying for the Citi Platinum Card should be aware of this) so perhaps stick to Australian card provider as a rule of thumb?

One thing that I haven't tried though is to pay ozlotteries via paypal and select the WEDRQ card as the payment method. Does anyone know if this would be a cash advance too?

On my way to my local shop to pay another $5k off this card since my BPAY payment has not yet been cleared...!

Don't get me wrong, this is a good card but does have real limitations for power users as most of us are here... So many things to put on this card and without topping up on a weekly basis its a struggle to keep within my given credit limit $20k

Moving forward, if my citi plat application does not get approved (currently conditional only) then I may have to give the clowns at QEDRCC a call to do something about my current available credit limit...

This raises one question, has anyone questioned if an increase is possible on this card yet...? From the T&C's
"your account
must have been open for at least six (6) months and maintained in good order"
I would say it is a straight up no, but I guess there is no harm in asking I guess...? Another $10k-$20k would come in handy...

I've used my WWEDRCC for Paypal transactions (although not Ozlotteries) and they have been treated as normal purchases. The transaction details are in the form "Paypal <partial merchant name>" though so it may not be enough.

The section in question...

Woolworths Everyday Rewards Qantas credit card Conditions of Use. said:
19. How we deal with payments.
19.1 We may allocate your payment in any way we think fit.
19.2 We may allocate payments we receive from you to pay the total amount owing in any order we think fit.

Not quite sure. I had an interest charge of $ 0.04 cents, but have put this down as being due to the credit card annual fee. Although it's unclear, I don't think that it's worth the time to be placed on-hold, to check.

Hi All,

I Got a letter asking me to fax over a payslip which i have done, but does anyone know if this means i am approved or they just wanted to see a payslip?

Any idea on how long the process takes from now?

Thanks

Adam
