Enrich Program changes from 10th June 2017

I hope this new Mark Ross-Smith reads this thread & that MH / Enrich start listening to their customers! As it stands currently, Enrich has been destroyed & the new points system is a complete DISINCENTIVE to be flying as a fare paying passenger on Malaysia Airlines & a complete disincentive to transferring points from elsewhere into an Enrich account. I for one won't be using MH any longer for anything & I'll be spending my business class dollars & business class points with another airline! MH have forgotten that their customers have other choices & that customers who stayed flying MH through the sad periods of aircraft losses need to be rewarded & not penalised this way!

To show the rise of points & the decline of MH Enrich value, here's some interesting facts for Mr Mark Ross-Smith: I'm a regular business class flyer between Bangkok & east coast Australia, so here's the redemption facts about a return redemption ticket ex Bangkok to Aust:

Back in early 2015, the return points required was 80,000, less 15% discount for online redemption - actual points = 68,000

When the points system changed in Feb 2015, the required points increased from 80,000 to 110,000, less 15% online redemption - actual points = 93,500

The 15% online discount was subsequently cancelled / removed, so the points price increased to 110,000

Now in 2017, after this latest devaluation, a return business class ticket on the same route costs a MASSIVE 162,000 points!

This is a HUGE 238% of what the points required were at the start of 2015! Yet seemingly no one at MH sees the destruction & revenue loss these devaluations have cost the airline!

Interestingly, the same trip using Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer points is 110,000 (also inclusive of surcharges etc), so with Malaysia Airlines being 52,000 points more expensive, why would anyone in their right mind use Malaysia Airlines & why would anyone want to fly MH to accrue Enrich points!

Mr Ross-Smith - fix it whilst there's still a chance........

Enrich has some interesting quirks that most don't know about (partner platinum status, generous soft landings etc).

I too am looking forward to seeing what becomes of the FFP. Exciting times ahead!

So WP for everyone and triple points earning flights for everyone... LOL

I have know Mark for a number of years and he will get this FF program to be the best it can be. Obviously he will have internal issues and some of them he might not be able to overcome in the next 6 months and even longer. Change unfortunately can not happen overnight but there will be some big changes coming if Mark has his way about it all

If you know Mark, you'd be doing him & all of us a favour by getting him to read this thread!

The other thing is that when Enrich do have promos, they're ALWAYS K.L. centric, i.e. everything is either into or out of K.L. They seem to ignore the fact that they have Enrich members that live anywhere else in the world, other than K.L. / Malaysia! And of course if you have to look at points required as 2 sectors - into & out of K.L. to a more distant point, even after the promotion, you need more points than the normal through fare points! So the promos are useless to those not living in Malaysia or wanting to visit Malaysia!

How about some enrich promos from say Australia to UK/Europe of v.v. or from Asia / North Asia (aside from Malaysia) to the UK or Australia or v.v.?

You need to factor in that Singapore Airlines Saver inventory @ 110K would have long dried up, and therefore zero availability on SQ; compared to MH which, would still allow miles to be redeemed. The higher rate could be compared to SQ Standard pricing once deep discount fares have sold out.

I actually look forward to the new Enrich program, say 1 year from now, from Mark Ross-Smith.

Whilst we all would like to have cheap J/F awards, but it is good to see and hear someone from the other side trying to have a good balance from both sides (the business and customers). It won't be easy as it would need all the reviews and approvals from the management who likes to have slash and burn .....

At least when it comes out though, I think we can be assured that the AFFers (or even FTers) comments would be taken into "some" consideration, rather than ignoring all of us ....

I think we need to give MRS a chance...he has just started ;) I have only redeemed awards using Enrich once a few years ago...there was an award sale on and I redeemed Syd-Kul return in Mh J for 5 pax for a grand total of 200K Enrich miles (which came from Amex)....I thought it was a good deal for me :)

At the end of the day, the consumer has choice...if a program is no good, move onto another; if it is good, stay. I have been in the frequent flyer game now for over 15 years so I have my fingers in many pies....recently, I took my party of 4 from Syd-Hkg in QF PE using Qf points, then Hkg-Ewr in Cx J using AA miles, then Oz in F/J from Jfk-Icn-Syd using Lifemiles. if I had stuck to one program, i would have never got my party from Syd-NYC and return in style with award flights.....so depending on what MRS does, I may stick my fingers into the Enrich pie again...:)

I know he's worked in Asia previously, but I wonder how much he'll actually be able to change. Time will tell, and best of luck. It would be nice to have another competitive program in the region.

I joined MH Enrich, all I got out of it was junk mail from overseas and phone calls from overseas call centres. All of it stopped when I cancelled the membership.

Yes, this was particularly irritating based in SIN, although has been worthwhile for me when they were J class promos, to pay for the short hop to KL separately in cash. Now though, with dynamic pricing of awards, that's less important.

Quite often people fly MH for more reasons than just points, but agree the balance has gone away from MH in terms of bothering to accrue points. Having said that this week I am flying MH, as it had best time/price, and the choice is 500 QFF points, 400 AAdvantage miles or 1575 Enrich miles. At 1.2c (approximately what they can be used for economy points + pay) that makes them worth $19. I struggle at the best of times to get 3.8c/point out of QFF, which is what I would have to value QFF points to accrue there.

I still can't get past the fact that all the emails I receive from Enrich are from "Enrich Marketing". Surely the sender name should not have the word "marketing" in it - it just makes me less likely to open the email!

Bad mistake AA or QF would have been better, I though 1.2c per point was OK. But I'm trying to use 20,000 miles that I have expiring, the real value is about 0.3c per point.

Was looking at buying an MH fare for $670, but I didn't realise you can only use points + cash in certain fare classes - so the $670 fare is not in a fare class that allows the use of points + cash. If I want to use points + cash I need to buy a fare worth $830, and the cash saving from using my points is around $220. So effectively the choice is 20,000 + $610 or $670 and no points. Conclusion = Enrich miles are virtually worthless, might as well fly non-stop, pay a bit more and let my miles expire.

I received an email a couple of days ago offering double Elite (status) miles on MH metal until end of year if booked by 8 Nov.
Its the first time I've seen anything that seems like the new loyalty management are getting their way :)
A decent offer-not one that I'll be taking up but promising nonetheless

I've just had another unusual Malaysia Airlines Enrich experience. The last ticket I used up my remaining Enrich points on – just to get rid of them, was a Bangkok – Australia in business class, for a ridiculously expensive 82,700 points each way. Singapore Airlines by contrast are 58,000 points each way, so why would you ever consider transferring points to Malaysia Airlines!

Anyway, I had to return to Australia at short notice & couldn’t get a confirmed seat on SQ, so not considering MH, I looked at Qantas. Qantas was showing business class availability with Malaysia Airlines (as a One World partner) but not for the crazy 82,700 points MH want, but for 65,000! So you can book MH redemption tickets as a Qantas frequent flyer, for substantially less points than using the MH Enrich programme! Go figure!

And if you book MH via Asia Miles (Cathay Pacific ) it's 45,000 Amex points - even better :)
