Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I need to go to GEG for my cousins wedding in June. QF WP until Nov 14 for me and Jul 14 for my partner.
Any suggestions on routings to retain WP? was thinking SYD-hnl-GEG-NYC-sju-HNL-SYD or thereabouts

We've both got cousins in Spokane :D - maybe we 're related  (but not aware of any weddings via Facebook)...

I think you'll have to route back through SEA from GEG - not aware that AA fly to JFK direct from GEG (or AS more likely). Alternates would be Portland (PDX) or LAX.

You might want to add MIA as well on the way down and back, with DFW as a possible exit point from mainland USA.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Best I managed was LAS-LAX-(redeye)-ORD-LGA/JFK-MIA-SJU for 420 SC's.

I was looking for LAS-LAX-(redeye)-ORD-MIA-SJU and the NYC connection came up at the same proice.

Hi, been doing some research on this and other flights for a possible trip in Feb and have a couple of queries.
When I put LAS-LAX-JFK-MIA-SJU into aa.com it spits back LAS-LAX-(red eye)-BOS-JFK-DCA-MIA-SJU for 842USD. Does that equal 480 SC?
I'm guessing the problem with this route is the 3 North East airports in winter and the possibility of bad weather causing havoc?

Otherwise LAS-LAX-(red eye)-MCO-MIA-SJU-MIA-DFW-LAS seems promising at 540 SC, is that right? I guess there shouldn't be any issues with not leaving the airport at SJU?

My cousin is in CBR but she is marrying a guy from Spokane. So it might be your cousins family she is marrying into. It has not been announced yet as they are not officially engaged. My cousin is going over on Friday and she is hoping he asks right away so she can officially set the date and let all us Aussies know but she is there until Jan and he is kind of shy. The Spokane family is Pentecostal (only about 3% in Spokane are) so if your cousin is... wait for a FB announcement sometime in Dec haha.
SEA and PDX are both places I haven't been. I might try for ORD as I like Chicago but it will depend on routing and pricing as well as the time between flights as if we go to certain airports I would probably want to see the town as well

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion

We aren't related then. No Pentecostals in my family and considering my remaining male cousins are 22 yo triplets and a 25 yo (and none of them shy according to their Facebook posts ;)), it's getting more remote.

I wouldn't be looking to use ORD in winter.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Sort of a newbie here with status runs etc...

I need 300 status credits to attain gold, and was going to give up on it, but now that I have got an offer for Double Status credits, which is now open to anyone i presume. Any ideas of a best Domestic Status run that will give me 150 status credits? (double that and I will attain gold)

Cheeers!

My sister used to live in Seattle; great place to visit. If you are into books have a look at the Elliot Bay Bookshop.

She also used to work at a ski resort just out of Spokane, and it was certainly a nice town to drive through. ;)

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hey all,

Just got the DSC offer and am toying with the idea of going for gold ;) I am currently sitting on 205 SC with another 30 SC of travel booked meaning I need 465 SC (232.5 prior to being doubled). I am located in Townsville. I assume a JASA is going to be the best way to get the SC. Can anyone suggest what is the best route and approximately what level of points/cash I should be looking to use as I am a first timer to booking a xASA.

Another question - as my reassessment date is in Sep 14 does that mean if I qualify for Gold over Dec/Jan I will keep Gold until Sep 15?

Thanks for your help

Just got a DSC offer but I haven't been travelling much as of late nor have much planned for the next year so I don't think a status run is worth it :(

+1. It will help me retain Gold from a couple of trips I hadn't booked yet

TSV BNE ADL return JASA should cost 48,000 points and around $360, netting 240 SCs, so 480 with DSC. You can add extra ports eg SYD or MEL into the itinerary for more SCs and more $$ but the same points. Check the "sucessful" bookings thread and spreadsheet.

As to your 2nd question, yes.

Good luck!

Best one was JASA to TSV/BNE/DRW return.

Try various SC scenarios here.

Yes you keep gold from date you qualify until end date following year.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

hey guys how are we all? Been flying on the dark side aka star alliance for a while ;)
So Just had a quick check the SC summary has me at 670 credits. With a few bookings already made will be sitting at 750. Like everyone have access to the DSC for the dec / jan promotion.
650 credits required. Im thinking gunning for the plt. Only issue is based out of syd, it seems like most of the routes offered both on the document and the forum has it coming out of every location but syd. (ie syd not preferred).

Any thoughts or suggestions what to book in. I will have perhaps 2 syd-bne return trips before march 31st (reassessment date) so anything that gets 300SC (not doubled) be fantastic!

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I'd really appreciate any suggestions. I received a DSC offer and need 375sc for WP. Unfortunately I used all my remaining points on an award booking for the Mrs last week, Im therefore reliant on cash-runs only.
Btw Im based out of Melbourne.

Many thanks

Is that 375 SCs counted twice, i.e. you need 750 SCs or do you only need 375 SCs and therefore a 190 SC run?

For a good SC/$ ratio, my tip is for you to pretend you were a schoolie (unless you already are one) and that you can afford more than discount economy.

No, just require a total of 375 sc. :)
