Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Langtons have some back vintages of Balnaves Reserve The Tally 2007, 2005, 2004 and 2001 for $75 per bottle

Broker offer only

no AmEx offer atm afaik but using the current code 2013 Xanadu Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon is $21.66 excluding delivery/cashback

I picked up a single bottle of this for about the same price through DM with the ebay/auspost $10 off voucher, just to see what the fuss was about. I found it to be quite ordinary, and glad I didn't spring for 6. However, I am a big fan of their chardy.

Re delivery times, online purchase of KILIKANOON RIESLING late in the day on 30th May, rec'd country Vic y'day in the morning.

Cellarmasters did pretty good on this transaction/delivery, ie 6 days :D

And to report on the Kilikanoon Mulga Riesling 2016 - a delicious zingy multi faceted mouthful, very good length, fav. go to Riesling.

Glad to have a box of this !!

Chilled seemed to suit it perfectly.

I realise that this may not be available to all, but I have just purchased a 6 pack of the 2013 Spinifex Barossa Esprit Grenache blend (63/21/16% grenache, mataro and cinsaut) for close to $16 a bottle. Given it retails for close to $30 and that I have enjoyed it before I'd recommend it as a buy.

To get to $16 you will need the following:

1) 8% cashrewards
2) Current $25 off cellarmasters Wine Voucher (not hard to come by)
3) Current $120 spend for $20 cash back offer from AMEX.

Even if you used a 5% off WISH card from Woolies instead of the AMEX offer or cellarmasters wine voucher this still comes out as a good offer.

PS. Halliday 96 points.

available again :)

In Perth I have way too much wine. In Sydney we have way too much champagne. It is hard to get one's life into balance.

Not sure what vintages you are looking at.

But I had the Butchers Cart 14 in the VA lounge recently. I concluded it was classy mass produced Barossa Shiraz fit for Joe Public but also (me!) Wine Snob Jonny, when giving 3.5 stars: http://www.vivino.com/users/warren-dav/reviews/61261216.

I've also had the Garden of Eden 15 in the VA Lounge recently. I concluded it was another easy drinking St Hallets red when giving 3 stars: http://www.vivino.com/users/warren-dav/reviews/61788053.

I think they are both decent wines for the prices you are looking at. If I had to choose - that would be easy:

the Butchers Cart.

Hope that helps. Cheers, Wozza

Further to my previous post, bought a bottle of 15 Butchers Cart from Dans and tried it tonight - it's a significantly better wine than the lower level St Hallett wines, such as Faith. However, I don't think it's worth $30. I agree with your comments that it's a commercial wine designed to appeal to people that have a greater appreciation of wine than the average person. I think that recent St Hallett wines are significantly better than than the previous few years.

Doh. CM called me today and despite my previous swearing off telephone sales talked me into a case of 14 mixed Shiraz for around $240. Got rid of a measly $25 voucher (about to expire) and with free delivery cam in at $214. Probably not fantastic value but I get to try a few new wines.
This is definitely the last telephone sale. I missed out on CR of-course too.

Just out of idle curiosity which 14 pack was that? They've been throwing around so many mixed cases of late that I can't keep up with them (or their newsletters/catalogues). I returned the Houghtons Cab Sav from CM that I partly bought with a $50 voucher and swapped it (plus a bit of extra change) for a 12 pack of Kilikanon 2015 Mulga Shiraz and I am so glad I did, a large rangy red not overly complex but fruit driven and eminently quaffable, highly recommend it for the price...

Thought i'd put it out there - don't know if that's a good price or not.

TBH, I am not sure. Yeah I now I should be more aware. Telemarketer said it "was the last case left!"
Contains Teusner, Heirloom, Parkers, etc. Top of the range was Teusner and another at about $40. They diminished from there. Not fabulous value I know but my mind is a fog from trading this past week. I am still cranky I let another CR cashback slip through my fingers.

Thanks for that, I think you've done very well under the circumstances! Curious to hear how the Heirloom shapes up, had the Teusner Dog Strangler Mataro recently and it was/is a bloody good drop, not had a Parkers before either for that matter but I'm all ears....cheers

I make it about $18.20 a bottle with a current WISH (5.55% + 8% cashrewards + $25 cellarmasters voucher).

If I didn't have ridiculous quantities of wine, I'd buy at that price.

I have $100 and $50 vouchers, but the last wine I bought from them was 2014 Cape Mentelle Chardonnay six months ago - nothing else since has been enticing enough for my crowded cellar

Does that mean you celebrate more or less in Sydney?
