Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

The next [post=1618421]Langton’s Family & Friends Carpe Diem sale[/post] is on tomorrow...

As I only want a few bottles myself, I’d be interested to hear from anyone in Melbourne about doing a combined order to save paying $10 delivery :)

Either way, if you don't have the pricelist, then feel free to pm me for it

How often does this happen?
I missed this sale..damnit

From a Dan Murphy email this morning
<snip screenshot> Wolf Blass grey label shiraz $25 today only deal

I just bought the shiraz cab from Cellarmasters with a $50 voucher and CR, and now I'm out of vouchers I can grab the straight shiraz from DM's for nearly the same price. Good one, ta! :)

Re delivery times, online purchase of KILIKANOON RIESLING late in the day on 30th May, rec'd country Vic y'day in the morning.

Cellarmasters did pretty good on this transaction/delivery, ie 6 days :D

Anyone tried St Hallett Butchers Cart Shiraz? Apparently Cellar One have it for $16.50 down from $30. Or the Garden of Eden Shiraz which is $14 down from $25?

Not sure what vintages you are looking at.

But I had the Butchers Cart 14 in the VA lounge recently. I concluded it was classy mass produced Barossa Shiraz fit for Joe Public but also (me!) Wine Snob Jonny, when giving 3.5 stars: http://www.vivino.com/users/warren-dav/reviews/61261216.

I've also had the Garden of Eden 15 in the VA Lounge recently. I concluded it was another easy drinking St Hallets red when giving 3 stars: http://www.vivino.com/users/warren-dav/reviews/61788053.

I think they are both decent wines for the prices you are looking at. If I had to choose - that would be easy:

the Butchers Cart.

Hope that helps. Cheers, Wozza

Thanks Wozza. Butchers is 15 and Garden of Eden is 16.

I've tried many different St Hallett wines over the years, including going to a St Hallett dinner in Melbourne about a year ago. Wines I've tried include Gamekeeper, Western Front, Faith, Blackwell, Old Block. I've even met Bob McLean, the long time wine maker (unfortunately now deceased). I've never really been impressed with any though, with one exception - 10 Dawkins, which I noticed you mentioned on Vivino. Received it in a mixed 6 pack from WM about a year or so ago. Thought it was fantastic. At the time, 10 was hard to come by, but 13 was available for about $30 through the Den. Not available through Cellar One, but 15 is available direct, though not appealing at $55! Also didn't mind western Front a few months ago for about $12, that was recommended on here.

I see Dans have Butchers, so might pick up a bottle to try before committing to 6.

forgot to mention that AusCellardoor have Graillot Project Syrah No.2 2015, recently rated 95pts by Campbell Mattinson on Winefront, for $26.91 using the 10% off code

unfortunately, [post=1641434]similar to MWG[/post], [post=1643486]they put Cullen Diana up by $5[/post] :(

also WineStar has Maretti Langhe Barbera Nebbiolo 2015 for $16.99

Always wanted to try this wine, although apparently very oaky. Anyone tried it before?

I had the 1994 a few years ago - whilst rich and powerful, it didn't seem over-oaked iirc

I've had many, although not that vintage. Consistently performs, full bodied, lots of fruit and acid, lots of oak, lots of tannin. If you like that then it's a good QPR IMO.
