Because if you are doing a day trip you can end up eating a sanga for breakfast, lunch and dinner...its gets old fast.

Nobody is forcing you to eat the same thing on every visit. There are other options.....

Like someone else said, you can't expect $100 meal on a $100 fare. The food is available and free, if you don't like it, you have a choice.

Sometimes there isnt, depends on the lounge and what time you get there. Of course I have a choice...it would just be nice if there were more choices.

I used to think that, until my last two VA flights where there was a Green Curry and a very decent Sausage Roll the second time. But I will agree it is far more miss than hit.

I was going to say, there is usually an extra hot option in the VA lounges in the evening. But with limited availability at times. The main salad bar/toastie options are about the same in both Qantas clubs and VA lounges.
QF J lounge does, of course, have a little bit extra.
But overall it is all snacks not meals.

Yeah, youve got to keep an eye out and join that line quickly before it all runs out.

i give QF points for healthy options in the lounges but the selections are typically bland and as low cost as possible, seeing the same ingredients in both the lounges and dinner boxes is disappointing also.

Would really prefer to see proper cheese board options rather than the tasteless supermarket cheddar and coughtail onions - surely they can source high quality produce directly from suppliers rather than the usually coon etc. This does not need to be at the first lounge standard but merely at the same level that you or I could produce at home ourselves.

Similarly get rid of the supermarket bread and bake proper sour dough on-site, could easily serve with their own deli cuts of prosciuttos etc or even oven roast chicken and pork.

they have a lot of staff and big budgets to run these lounges that could be put towards delivering a much more 'premium' selection, there really is no excuse for the poor food on offer and it really puts a dampener on the experience

Without knowing what Qantas pay for alcohol, it never ceases to amaze me that you can consume say $20 worth of grog but the food offering is worth just a couple of dollars. Surely the food budget could be increased?
I do enjoy the hot offering in the VA lounges during the latter part of the day.

Edit to add:
I didn't answer the poll as I could not find an appropriate question to answer.
To me that would have been something along the lines of "Do you think the food could be improved?"

But the lounges are outsourced to Accor who provide the food & bev

So what? It's a Qantas lounge, and Qantas would specify the requirements.

Oh I agree. They represent QF. But Accor are still likely to go as cheap as they possibly can to make a profit. To them the lounge is a business.

While I agree with the comment that it isn't ideal to be seeking a meal in a lounge - sometimes your schedule gives you no other choice. And if flights are delayed, the lounge access serves as a good substitute I would have thought for QF having to provide cash or food vouchers - so a decent standard of food is necessary.

While I haven't been there for a couple of years, the Townsville regional QF lounge has always been really good in my experience, as has Cairns. Never really lingered long in ADL - but will be there later this week at lunchtime so will see.

You do realise their are a number of outlets that sell a variety of food within the majority of domestic terminals in Australia? You are then welcome to eat this in the lounge. This idea of 'no choice' is a bit extreme I think.

Really? You can BYO food to the lounge? I didn't know you could do that.

Sure I understand that but QF is the one that has written a huge contract with them that allows them the scope to serve up cough. They can address this by changing the contract if they care to (and obviously that will depend on feedback from pax/dropoff in elite renewals & lounge memberships etc).

the domestic J lounges have a slightly better range of food (in my experience)

I've always been disappointed about QF dom J lounge food, mostly just slop although there are some gems occasionally.
Also I still don't know how after many years of visiting the MEL dom J lounge they still can't get scrambled eggs right?? Syd dom J lounge does scrambled eggs much better.

I know I sound picky but I'm not, I don't mind 'ordinary' however what is on offer most times is below 'ordinary' even when its free! :D

I tried the scrambled eggs recently and I found them to be quite poor too. Though at least scrambled eggs were available, unlike in the QANTAS Club lounge. Perhaps I should have said bigger range (rather than better).

Yup, if enough people complain, QF may have a look at what their contractors are dishing up.

Well I have seen plenty of people do it (and have done it myself when given meal vouchers by Qantas due to delays) and have never seen any signs saying you can't.

What's with all the negativity towards the sandwich toasters?

I think they are a great alternative to the pre-prepared food. Yes, I know there are pre-prepared sangers for the toaster but I make my own cheese, ham, tomato and mustard sanger and it tastes good and fills me up.

Self serve, if you have 15 mins to down a beer and grab a snack I do not waste it making a toasted sandwich or waiting to make a toasted sandwich.
