Re: 48B exit seat Syd to LAX on QF A380

Hi guys,

this is the first time I post anything here . I just have few questions in regards to seat 48B on an A380. There are a lot of reviews for row 80 and other exit seats but not much for 48. I am currently booked on 48B if you guys had any experience with this seat pros and cons. I would be very thankful. I'm a big guy and I need my leg space.

Thanks
Welcome to AFF :D

This is a seat introduced with the new configuration so has not been around that long.

I suggest you check for posts here in this thread from the last eight months or so for references to row 48.

You will certainly be one of the first lower deck economy passengers if the aircraft.

Also, look at this thread: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....rogram/new-qf-a380-reconfiguration-40545.html

Does 32A/B have decent leg room. Is the leg room as good as 66A

Not quite as good but ample unless your really tall, the upper deck cabin really is in a class of its own. While I don't like the changes that saw more seats and less toilets, its is a nice change in hindsight.

Thanks markis10, I have been given 32A at no charge (FREE). I am 6"2 and wondered if i should cough up the points to get a
better leg room seat. Been looking at 48A, 80K/A, or 35K. If i'm on a flight for 13 or so hours, i would like to be
comfortable. I have done 66A previously, and it is also a great seat. Just wanted to maybe check out upstairs this time.

For extra legroom with no extra moneis then you can not go past 80A/K or 71D if you can get those then ofr me its a no brainer.

Hi - for a trip in August the only seats I can select online for Upper Deck are row 34 or row 35 DEF. Would 34D or 34G be best, or is it all much the same?

Row 35 is exit row so has heaps of leg room. I had 35F LAX-MEL and the seat was fantastic, the crew and most of the passengers access the toilet through the galley two rows behind. So much room to spread out, I put my wheely bag on the ground and rested my feet on it during the flight. Wasn't sure if the cabin crew would make me move it, but they didn't. As mentioned previously there is very limited overhead storage space in this cabin, also hampered by the fact that so many seats can't access underseat storage either. However the crew are aware of this and will stow bags in the PE cabin if required.

Booked SYD/HKG depart 12th Oct HKG/SYD 19th Oct. outbound we (2) got Y upper 35 J/K exit but from HKG not a lot to choose from even though its 4 months away, have the dreaded 35E/F on return flight. I'll be Plat. 1st time as of next week not sure if more available seats would be shown then or if I should call up to change return to better seats?.

Why is 35 E/F dreaded? I would argue that 35K is worse (I thought it looked better too on the seat maps) however it has the protruding exit door.

The 380 we are on has this layout, 35 K/J exit seats have tons of room, I'm told 35 E/F can be used as a passage way by Pax.

Any comments on row 34? (I looked through the thread and all queries about 34 have gone unanswered.) It's the only seats on the upper deck I see available for a flight to LAX in early Sept (I am AA Plat/OW Sapph, and QP). I am about to travel with my family of 4, filling up the row. Better than downstairs, I suppose?

Curiously enough, for my return in Nov. I see no availability on the upper deck (I was able to get 80A though :p). I wonder if OW Sapph is not high enough for such premium seats?

My guess is that PAX will grab the back of the seat as they dodge the white socks in row 35 on the way to the loo. Apart from that its probably a pretty standard inner row.

As far as I remember (and my photo shows), new config A380 upper EC has no door protrusion for Row 35 seats affecting legroom (J/K is an outstanding seat selection IMO...unlike the 747 which does have protrusions...

You're exactly right, I've sat in 35K and there are no protrusions, in fact the leg room is fantastic! Only problem is that you can't see out the window.

Went WP last week, all of a sudden more seats opened up on our 380 HKG trip, now booked 35 K/J and return 32 A/B.

I'm thinking to choose between 66A and 35K on my QF9/10 flights in a couple of months. SeatGuru says that 66A does not have seat power but 35K does. Anyone know if that's accurate? Also, from the picture of 35K earlier in the thread it looks like the wall is far enough away from the seat that it wouldn't be possible to lean against it while sleeping (which would be why I'd rather select an exit row window seat than aisle). Is that right, and how would 66A fare for against-the-wall sleeping? Thanks!

Edit: looks like on my QF10 flight back, 66C and 66H are the only exit row seats available to select. Anyone had experience with those?

I couldn't lean against the wall to sleep in 35K, but could in 66A. My preference would be 66A despite the less crowded feel of the upper deck, but I don't fly half as much as many of the folk here.

Good lord - the wall is a good 20cm away to the left of the headrest as the fuselage curves up and away.

I would imagine quite a contortion.

There is a very very limited view from the window, and you'll have to turn your neck a bit (where it would be uncomfortable for more than a few seconds) to look out it. With the seat reclined, you wouldn't gain much more of a view.

Here is a photo.

Nup, no cowlings in the way in row 66.

The 388 is rather large and the lower deck window seats have more space betwixt the shoulder and the wall than at the hip.

In any case here's some photos (click the thumbnails for large images) :
