AY RTW Sale

This fare has been extended yet again... but is now ~$200-300 more.

Last ticketing date is now 19/04.

BKK, ICN, NGO, KIX and NRT are no longer allowed on the sale version of the fare, however SIN and HKG are still allowed.

Some additional routes in the US have been added and for those with DSC magic from February, it's still possible to haul up to 1600+ SCs if you start from PER.

Asia routing: AU-SIN/HKG-HEL-EU
North America routing: AU-LAX/SFO/DFW-ORD/SFO/JFK/MIA-HEL-EU

Can anybody tell me what the current bookable fare basis for this RTW fare is?

The only RTW option I can locate using expert flyer (or ITA etc) permit travel only after the 15th of May. That FB is I1PFAU37

That is the correct fare basis.

Ah OK. I had in my mind it was available for travel from 19 April. My bad.

This is the last ticketing date - ie. it must be ticketed by this date.

Wow - what a wealth of info! Thanks to all and especially MadRooster. I joined this forum looking for some info on the extension to the AY RTW sale, and got all the info, and much more!

Is it possible to get QF Gold out of this one?

I have PM'd Madrooster. Thank you

I have to be in Europe in August, BUD and COP.

BUD-CPH will be on seperate Y ticket the rest in J

Looking at doing something like this:

BNE-HKG-HEL-BUD
BUD-CHP
CHP-HEL
HEL-ORD
ORD-DFW
DFW-SYD
SYD-BNE

Can I add more sectors to the USA bit?

AY has extended the fare yet again. Ticketing deadline is now 23/05.

AY has also now changed the fare to a 6 month fare (previously 3 months). This means that the date range from your first flight to your last flight can now span 6 months.

I wouldn't mind transiting within China on the way to europe on this kind of fare.
Are there options to travel via/or stopover at say Xining, Chengdu,Lanzhou as part of the AY J class fare to europe?

No. SIN, KUL and HKG are the only Asia cities.

Could someone tell me what the change and cancellation fees are on this fare please?

Finnair has another RTW J sale on now. From $5,591 including taxes, e.g. SYD-BKK-HEL-LAX-SYD.

Finnair Business Class RTW | RoundAbout Travel
Thank you for that .
Unfortunately , I missed out on that .
I had to fly earlier in september .
A warning though - the Finnair lounge in Heslinki is close to the worse lounge i have ever been into.
Apparently , there is some construction going on adjacent to the lounge but i find that to be a poor explanation to
  • plastic cups for wine, tea coffee etc
  • NO hot food,
  • minimal choice of nibbles etc
  • no where sit - absolutely crowded out at 1700 hrs .
I don't think there are any other OW lounges at HEL but i would advise you to try any other if possible.

Which Lounge? Schengen or non-Schengen?

Which Lounge? Schengen or non-Schengen?
The reference ‘construction’ would suggest Non-Schengen. I was there a week ago in the AY Premium lounge (similar time arriving from CDG on route to NRT with JL). What used be a view out from the raised level appeared to be a view of a temporary walkway or something...

Yes, pretty crowded but wine was definitely served in glass! Don’t recall if there was hot food or not but I’d just had a reasonable lunch over from CDG.

I've never been in the regular AY J lounge - so can’t comment on that one.

I've only used the AY Premium Lounge in the Non Schengen area, and not for a few months, but this doesn't sound like it. I recall Ittala glassware, plenty of hot food and variety. never found it overcrowded.

However, Loungebuddy comments thus about the other non-schengen Finnair Lounge
"NOTE: Renovation will take place between October 2018 and May 2019. During this period, the food and beverage selection will be limited. Breakfast will include bread rolls, yogurt and coffee, and after breakfast you can enjoy wraps, soup, salads and bread. The shower cabins and sauna at the non-Schengen lounge will be closed as of 1 October 2018."
