We were family of four stickybeaking although this was during flight and I asked the F CCrew whether they would could take a photo of us 4 on the stair. Very obliging they were...

This was QF11 - correct?

I was on this flight travelling F. Waiting to use the toilets during the busy period prior to landing....watched a gentlemen exit the toilet (I was waiting for) and then walk up the stairs to J :evil::evil:

Then watched a family of 4 walk down the stairs for a stickybeak.....before the FA's finally sprang into action.

Which one were you?

Family of four stickybeak but purpose was to get a CCrew to take a photo of us on the A380 stairs (not in Q-jamas though
Have flown F on QA380 so agree on go-nogo areas. They were obliging though... We did this prior to takeoff...

the 'droop' in the skybeds is a well know issue apparently. There are some solutions out there to fix the problem.

As for the stairs down... was this during flight? It should strictly be for First class only. I don't think there's a reason for business class to go there?

Wonder where the F-J boundary is on the stairs: top of stairs, middle, or before the maindeck?

"First" has no boundaries (short of the coughpit door). :p

But yeah, J pax should be dissuaded from going downstairs.

(Sadly this issue has been exacerbated by the removal of several lavatories in the reconfiguration.)

Yes, there is a design flaw in Mk 2 Skybed.

After a year or so, the lower part begins to droop as the hinges wear. Can be rectified with one's rollaboard strategically placed underneath.

serfty, have you written about this on a passenger comment card or mentioned it by other means to QF?

Is one solution to have the maintenance gents road test the beds every year (briefly!) and see what 'support' is offered. If it's deficient, can they then install new hinges?

Surely those who travel in this class remember such failings and to some extent base their choice of carrier on that factor, yet it may not be an expensive problem to fix.

Not that I'm a frequent F flyer but on my last flight every single time I had to wait for the facilities a J passenger came slinking out. Perhaps the J pjs should have some sort of rfid chip to set of an alarm when they come down the stairs? :)

There's an IR camera in the area at the base of the stairs. Might have to keep an eye on it next trip.

In reverse, I recently went up the stairs for a midnight snack (kettles chips :-))

Here is a little pic of what the economy screen looks like viewing the tailcam when the A380 has arrived at the terminal.

For a bonus point...

a) which airport is this?
b) which terminal?
c) which gate?

I had the same experience flying F from London to Dubai recently - every time I went it use the bathroom I had to wait for a J passenger to exit. When I fly J I never use the F facilities out of respect for those enjoying the F experience (no matter how annoyed I might get now that the J cabin relies on 2 less bathrooms compared to the good old days!). Love the pajamas chip idea!

Lousy service by QF. It's not that hard to stop the J walkers.....

Even if there were a couple of ropes (top and bottom of the stairs) with a message hanging off them saying 'no passengers past this point'?

Makes it hard for F pax to come up to use the lounge, which they are perfectly entitled to do.

I think a theatre style rope was looked at but there was the risk that during turbulence someone could grab onto it and possibly fall down the stairs. As for at the bottom of the stairs, well people would just move it anyway. There a plenty of placards that passengers ignore now. This would be another one.

Placards are also very hard to be added to the aircraft after delivery as they are classified as aircraft equipment and there is a huge process involved in getting them placed.

IIRC way back there used to be a rope at the top of the stairs.
I don't think J passengers should go downstairs at all unless in a toilet emergency type situation.
I don't regard getting changed out of your PJ's as such an emergency as I have witnessed whilst waiting in a queue for the F toilets.
