Ok, first world problems I know, and we've all heard of the sudden recliners, the seat grabbers, the kids who kick seats, the armrest hogs etc. Something new my partner came across last night travelling back to SIN in J on EK -that's the pillow thief! When he got up to visit the toilet shortly after seat belts sign came off, he noticed a lady returning from the toilet subtly grab his pillow from his seat, and quickly sit down with pillow behind her back. He said it was obvious that he was sitting there, and the cabin was full. He approached her to get it back, but is this a new one, especially in J? I've never seen, and would never ever think of taking a pillow from a seat where another passenger was sitting, maybe I would ask if they were using it or not, but to sneakily take it away whilst they were at the toilet .... aah, the self entitlement of some, to have not one but two pillows!

Wow, you would think that it would have been easier for her to just ask a FA for one , especially in J.

Something about money and class...

I have a similar story. I was flying on an A330 and it wasn't full but not quite empty either. I was in the centre row of 4 with me in the G seat and someone else in the D seat leaving the two in middle empty.

I went to have a chat with the crew for about 10 minutes or so and upon my return someone had made my seat their own. She had thrown all my stuff on the floor and pushed it under the seat beside her. The lady on the end took my blanket (the crew had given me a J one). I asked the lady in my seat why she was sitting there and moved my stuff to which she responded "I thought you had gone". I responded "And exactly where did you think I could of gone? The 7/11?"

Needless to say she moved back to her original seat.

That happened to a friend of mine. He was on a domestic flight in China and went to the loo. By the time he came back, some old Chinese guy was sitting in his seat. He asked him to move, but the guy starting ranting loudly to him in Chinese. It was only a short flight and there were other seats available, so he just ended up taking one of those.

Like you said, where do they think you go?

Would you want a pillow which has probably been under someone's posterior or even slobbered on?

It was returned. It was only a matter of seconds I guess, no chance to slobber on, and only behind the person (who was fully clothed!) briefly.

That might be okay if you had packed up all your stuff and moved to another seat. But she obviously had to move your things so it's definitely not on. I really wonder about a lot of people.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

The pillow thing is not new - I have learned to secure mine lest it be 'inadvertently' pirated.

You say it is some. Personally I think society is degenerating rapidly.

On the train last week. Carriage is full. This creep sitting at the back in a 2 seater has both shoes on the seat in front that can be unfolded down at the wheelchair section. I was only going a couple of stations but wanted to sit. I was not going to confront him.

There's an element of "you can't make me do anything unless you point a gun at me" in society where there's been the decline in "soft authority" figures. The general scrotes have no respect for anyone and only listen if it's the police threatening them with being thrown in a cell. So people like bus drivers, train guards, cinema ushers (remember them?), teachers and even FAs have lost the authority they once would have almost taken for granted. I don't want to harp on about the non-existent "good old days" when everything was great as we know a lot of nasty stuff went on back then but this is one of those signs of decay in society. A lack of respect unless enforced. Do the right thing BECAUSE it's the right thing, not because "it's the law".

[soapbox out]

And I thought I had it tough. On a recent flight Mrs B and I were in row 2 with a full J cabin. Last J to board our overhead was full. Fair dinkum, of you're going to bring more cough on board than allowed don't stuff it in my overhead

Stealing something is wrong. Stealing something you can get for free is just stupid. Pax travelling in J will almost always get an extra pillow if they ask for it.

Maybe she wanted the pillow to sell on Fleabay!
The number of J and F blankets (and sometimes even Y) which come up for sale astounds me, especially as they are all STOLEN!

Recently there's been a lot of stuff on eBay... no wonder QF is losing money with the amount of luggage carts (for example) I have seen lately!

There must be a market for that. I believe the people who buy this stuff are as guilty as the ones who sell them.

Always remember my mothers story; BKK to SYD in Y class the guy in front of her had put is rather large computer case in her leg space. When my mother rightly asked him to remove it he protested to the cabin staff that his seat also included the "underspace" accusing my mother of not appreciating his "status"!!! The staff found locker space for his luggage but of course a disturbed 9 hour flight for mum.

Reading this, I had a chuckle to myself at the mental images of a random pax just walking off the aircraft pushing a food trolley (have seen lots of these for sale aswell) and saying goodbye to the FA/Capitan as they walk up the jetway.
