A new bad behaviour on planes - the pillow thief

And I thought I had it tough. On a recent flight Mrs B and I were in row 2 with a full J cabin. Last J to board our overhead was full. Fair dinkum, of you're going to bring more cough on board than allowed don't stuff it in my overhead

Wow I want your ticket, none of mine have guaranteed overhead space.

As long as only J pax used it then I reckon you're out of luck.

If all J pax bring luggage according to the rules, there should be enough space for everyone.
Sometimes pax bring more then 2 items, shove everything in the overhead bin and take over all the free space. If that happened in Buzzard's case, he is right to be upset.

You say it is some. Personally I think society is degenerating rapidly.

On the train last week. Carriage is full. This creep sitting at the back in a 2 seater has both shoes on the seat in front that can be unfolded down at the wheelchair section. I was only going a couple of stations but wanted to sit. I was not going to confront him.

I don't want to believe it's degenerating, but that person/behaviour IS degenerate.

Stealing something is wrong. Stealing something you can get for free is just stupid. Pax travelling in J will almost always get an extra pillow if they ask for it.
They cater one pillow per PAX or seat and in a full cabin, there's often none spare.

So you don't think it is inconsiderate of your fellow J passengers to carry on more than is allowed and thus take up "all" the overhead space  Maybe I/we should be amongst the first to board in order to save having to check in luggage.

On long haul flights I do ask for another pillow and the FA usually gets it from one of the overhead bins (I ask upon boarding when all the pillows are still on the seats) so I assume they keep some extra for J pax.

Once I stuck my pillow and blanket in the overhead for later use and the pillow was purloined ...I asked and been told there were none spare (in J or W), offered a couple from Economy.

So these days I protect them.

Yeah. Mine generally go between my seat and the wall (window seat of course) until I want them. Just about anywhere else other than sitting on it will see them grabbed by another pax.

I often store it there too.

Sometimes I'll also put the pillow in my carry on until needed :)

If everyone on a full 737 brought 1 bag to store in the overhead then there is definitely not enough overhead space for all of them. Many people bring 2 bags and some even more.

There would be enough space in J for 12 pax luggage assuming Y pax don't use it.
Also, the OP said that after he boarded with partner all the space was already taken. If it was indeed on a 737 it means only 10 pax took all the available space and that should not happen unless they had extra luggage.

Luckily not many of QF's 737 flights have pillows ...

When I did that, the guy behind me kept handing it back to me....apparently he didn't want an extra.

Recently there's been a lot of stuff on eBay... no wonder QF is losing money with the amount of luggage carts (for example) I have seen lately!

Maybe it's QF trying to make some extra pocket money #qantasluxury ;)

I have my own self expanding travel pillow to negate a missing pillow issue. No one can say it's theirs because it looks nothing like a standard supplied plane pillow.
