Hmmm, strange happenings in my online transaction reporting...

2 transactions from night of 28th still not showing. More intriguing is that none of my 6 transactions yesterday are showing (a separate direct debit and one of my wife's transactions are both showing). Sure, I can understand the 3 transactions from last nights' drinks (with fellow FT'ers JohnK, anatOl, Mal, wallacej and Bundy Bear) and even the taxi fare through Cabcharge at 2.13pm not showing, but the BP tranaction at 9.18am and the Holiday Inn meal at 12.33pm are both not showing:?:.

One funny thing to come out of last nights' drinks - as I was buying the first round the server commented that "a guy must have bought 10 drinks over his time in the bar last night and paid for them individually on his Amex". He thought it was a bit strange...JohnK and I just smiled . The server did ask whether I wanted to start a tab however I politely declined (due to risks of skimming, other patrons trying to put their drinks on my tab or even the bar staff adding (incorrectly or not) drinks to my tab). He understood :-| and processed my transaction.

Still no Poc, no letter, etc...but then again I don't expect to get either, as I had rung up on 18th and cancelled the 20T/10K promo and left the 10T/5K promo on my file...and the CSR said that as I hadn't got a postcard it was the one for which I would have been targetted. That being the case, I didn't feel the need to push the envelope ND go for the 5T/5K promo.

Good on you Simon!

I've been promised a fax today as I have 'STILL' not yet received my letter in the mail. If I dont hear from them by 4, I turn into Mr Angry man.

only half my points have posted from Tuesday, none from yesterday yet

Good on you Simon, we can't let Amex get away with this !!

and yet I paid a Cab using TAXIePAY last night at 10pm and its on my account this morning (as are points for yesterdays transactions)

Mine have been slow to post the last couple of days (transactions and normal points). One for the 28th and two for the 29th were not there this morning, but they are now.

Maybe the Amex systems are a little busy as we approach the end of the month ;). I noticed this morning as I swiped my card at Coles, Woolworths, Big W, Target, Myer, Best and Less, and BWS that the "processing" display on the POS terminal took a lot longer to clear than normal. Will see how it goes when I have to do some more shopping at Bunnings, Super Cheap Auto and probably back to Big W with MiniNM#3 if it still slow.

Anyone ever seen this message in their My Transactions:

Seen it before, and usually goes away after a while (I've never actually tried re-instating points myself)

It was heartening to read that I wasn't the only one miffed  at the lack of transactions showing.

Logging in now and my points balance on the first MR screen has plumped up, but can't access the actual transactions - getting the same error message as reported above.

Will check again this afternoon (after adding a couple of transactions today).

48 Hours are up - no reinstatement of "stolen" points so another call this afternoon to notify them that I will be referring this to the relevant authorities.

I finally got the POC letter today, saying i'm on the 20/10k offer. I'll be phoning them probably tomorrow... i never heard back from the manager either.

I have not had any issues with transactions, or MR points, appearing the next day when I log into my Amex account. Sure the 3 transactions for drinks last night have not appeared yet but I expect these will appear sometime tonight/tomorrow morning. I think some people are a little paranoid and reading way too much into what is happening....

No..not paranoid at all. There are fluctuations in posting of tx and points.
However I agree to not read anything into it "Everday Promo-wise" as I would believe that it is just whatever is "normal" for Amex and has nothing to do with this promo.

I have never really watched my points daily before.

But since this promo has started and I have been often looking I would make the following observations:

  • That most days my points from the previous day in the main post by 9.30am. It seems to vary a bit though as sometimes will be in by 8am..sometimes not.
  • That purchases made after 4pm often take an extra day to show up (or pop in after 2.30pm).
  • While most purchases post with 24 hours (excluding weekends) that some take days or even overa week to show (ignoring taxis which can be longer)
  • That points never post ona sunday, but do on sat morninf.
  • That in the afternoon there seems to be a second wave of posts that go through by say 2.30pm.
  • That however on some days the first wave of posts either do not post, or that many are missing. This seems random...but who knows it may be a fortnightly/monthly thing as I have not recorded the days.

Paranoid !! Paranoid !! it is compulsory humorous reading hourly
keep it up.:D

It's human nature to be paranoid

Well, my 2 "missing" transactions from 28th have finally shown up on MR, so up to 60 now (with the 5 transactions from yesterday still to post). Time to add another 2 this afternoon - a haircut and some shopping at Coles to pick up the essentials I forgot in Tuesday's shopping experience. Both accept Amex

I'll have to check that my wife has correctly used PayPal to buy something online last night (not being an expert on PayPal, having only used it once 4 years ago, but my Amex is the linked account). Would this count as a transaction?

After I buy my next QF flights (my final 2 transactions for the month) I think we'll start holding off transactions to push them into November, which should be another ripper month for us all. The longer it goes, the more we learn about how to use Amex (hopefully responsibly).

How do you have an Amex linked to paypal?

They only take mastercard and visa in Australia. I am jealous!

That's what I was thinking too.

On a side note I actually got a phone call from Amex today, although not to do with any points. Amex Fraud called me relating to some 'suspect' transactions on my card.

Apparently putting two Qantas transactions on a card within 24 hours of each other, when you havent done so before, triggers a fraud check.

The funny part was, one of them was a charge that was in relation to an upgrade of the Platinum Credit Card Free Flight offer for a whole $42. The other transaction was around $120. The girl stated that they were just being cautious. Another thing mentioned is that some hotels and airlines will deny a card transaction if the card is within a week or two of its expiry date which sounded dubious. She noted on my account the purchases were legit and let QF process the second transaction. Amex. As much voodoo as QF I swear:)

The parking machines at Pert Airport won't accept cards from the start of the month that they expire, rather than the end. Go figure.

Just on phone with Amex - no dice on the 5K/5T. No evidence of the fax it seems

Asking for confirmation of refusal to accept my "offer".

Next stop the ACCC or other body...

Have also demanded reason for points deduction and return of points.

Would be good if the fax number worked...
