Re: New Layout: mediaonenetworks.net

Had that *** acvs.mediaonenetworks.net streaming video ever since the new software was live: Its really SLOOOOWS down my slow internet connection to the speed the of a slow tortise. Think I have killed it by adding to Addblock on Firefox. Taken several hours to solve this. Hope ADMIN kills it for all.
Gone now, for me, and everything is much snappier now :)
Yep. But we have paid Silver or Gold membership (add free) as evidenced by the ability to have a signature

I had the ad early on but it has not appeared recently.

I see threads with new comments only, now appear bold. This should help a few people with navigating the forums.

Thanks!!

Yep, and the ad is no longer appearing. Didn't realise that was slowing things down so much

Where is this happening? When I click on new posts all threads are in bold with a little icon to click "Go to first new post". When I have read the thread and return to the New Posts display the thread is still in bold and all that is different is the icon with the "Go to first new post" has disappeared.

Glad to hear that the majority of users are happy with the new version of the software....

I only saw this navigating by forum, not in the “new posts” section. Perhaps it’s not a site wide option.

Well, I am (as I knew would happen) getting used to the layout now. :)

Ther one exception (forgive me if this has been posted, I haven't checked the entire thread) is the rather large piece of white space in a post where a previous post has been quoted (i.e. the space in the post betwen the subject and the quoted text).

I don't recall it being like that before?

Thanks to the Administrators for keeping it going in a seemless (almost) changeover forced upon them.

I would call it a change rather than an improvement however. Slower, more scrolling, more squinting!

Matt

The whitespace varies a lot between browsers. Which browser are you using?

I think that’s an IE6 issue that JohnK also has.

IE6 makes a bit of a hash of the whole page !!
The formatting is totally wrong and each post has a gap of about 10 blank lines before the actual post.

Although I am having the issue with IE6 and IE8.

Also when quoting a post there is around 10 blank lines before the quoted post and I have to scroll down to type something in the post.

Also some posts use very narrow paragraps to display the information (I guess there is supposed to be some sort of ad taking up the rest of the space) which makes it very hard to read. The same thing happens when first editing a post.

Well, I am on IE6 right now at work, so that makes sense. Though I thought I was having the same problem at home (on IE8 and Firefox), but will have to doublecheck tonight!

IE8 in compatibility mode has the problem, but IE8 in IE8 mode doesn't!

I think there's going to be more websites that stop working properly in IE6 - and it bothers me that there are still SOEs out there that have IE6 in them. The security issues alone should have seen IE6 being shown the door years ago...

There is no "Reply to Thread" button showing on the bottom of thread displays while there is one at the top.

Yes, one can "Reply with Quote" but then need to delete the quote before continuing ... (or not, thereby chewing up further rescources) :-|

Seems OK here (one button each on top and bottom) - was it fixed instantaneously?

I have had two buttons, one top and one bottom for a while now.

Might be an ie 6 issue - no choice here ... i'll check with FF when I get the chance.

(Would hate to have to upgrade from IE6 simply to view AFF :-|)
