Seeing as there are a few issues with the new layout, I think admin would appreciate being pointed to specific issues without a flood of messages in his PM box. :p

Issues I’ve seen:

  • Welcome (username) at the top is a little hard to read in it’s current colour
  • Clicking on “go to last post” doesn’t take me to the last post as the post number is removed (eg. #postNUMBER)
  • After posting a reply, I’m not redirected to my post, but left at the top of the thread
  • Can "additional options" in the reply to a thread area be collapsed like in the old software?
  • Why do these two smilies look different to the rest of them:
  • No mobile mode as far as I can see

As you would know by now, there was a major upgrade of the vBulletin software last night. In general, the upgrade went well and there are no major issues - all functions are working properly, as far as we can tell.

Please be patient, we will be addressing the known bugs and some issues you may be reporting here over the coming days.

The change was pretty much forced on us by vBulletin, as they have discontinued their "old" forum software, and introduced a complete new version. For those who are interested, you can read all about it at Purchase vBulletin, the most powerful forum software available.. The "old" software would ultimately become unsupported, so it was important that we did the upgrade. (There are some pretty cool features - such as blogs- available in the new version. We will introduce these new features in time.)

Unfortunately, the new version uses a completely different template structure so we did have to change the "look and feel" as well.

Our initial focus will be on correcting the bugs and continue to check that all functions/features are working properly. We will then turn out attention to the more "cosmetic" issues.

Thanking you for your patience :)

Logged in last night and on logging out, the whole program "froze" Had to reboot to get gaoing again.
Thought it might be a bug, so logged again and this time when logging out a window opened and asked "are you sure?"
This morning , i just logged in and once again froze when logging out.
Have rebooted and logged in to write this replt to the thread.
lets see if I can get out in one piece.

I have a slow internet connection. Loading pages on the new format is slooooooooooooow. So much that its not usable (even thought I pay to have add's removed). FT is OK, so that is where I will be. Another car site thai I frequent that uses this vb software is also OK

While using my eeePC (ie. small screen), the Google Ad at the top covers the checkbox to remember my logon details.

Does this look like a cosmetic issue to anyone else? Seems like there’s something hiding behind “unread”.

Sam,

It is a little button beside the word that on yours appears to be under the word. It does not do anything different to clicking on the words.

Well at least we know the new software isn’t a fan of Webkit…

…or IE6!

I am using IE8 and it appears to work fine.

The changes are big but like anything given time this will become the norm.

The only change that really makes a difference to me is when you post it goes to the top of the page and not to your post.........minor. ***EDIT....when posting this I have noticed that it returned me to my post. That is service for you....thanks admin.***

Life goes on......

It seems the forget to add “#post123456” to the end of the link.

EDIT: Not for me strangely. I’m sure it’ll be working smoothly soon.

Do you get the same result if you try to click on a “go to last post” button from the search or forum main page?

I am using IE8. It is likely a wrapping issue with the 10" screen.

Firefox has the same issue if you make the window small enough.

But trying out different browsers and one machine <cough>fusion</cough> has IE6 on it.

New software keeps logging me out every-time I go to a new page within the forum, its quite a pain

I'm using Google Chrome on Vista Premium

Josh:p

The only bug I noticed last night using Eeepc was navigation issues using the cursor arrow keys. The up arrow wouldn't work a number of times. Also highlighting text using shift and arrow and had trouble chaning direction - i.e. highligh down, go too far and then wouldn't de-highlihgt up.

But given others have mentioned it being slow, that might have been the issue, slow connection or software.

Same thing is happening for me using Safari on Mac OS X. Screen size is a fair bit bigger than an eePC :p

Also, on the previous template the thread title was only bolded if there were new posts - now it seems that the thread title is bolded regardless. Could this be changed back to the previous behaviour?

Just got a couple of more things.

I'm occassionally not seeing any flashing cursor when replying. This is making life a bit difficult and annoying having to constantly delete and retype things when I loss track of location.

I also preferred the new threads list, I haven't found this again. a bit of function that I'll have to investigate but any guidance would be highly appreciated. Well in fact this can be fixed with a link back to Home. Is that possible?

I have just logged into the new format for the first time. I am in Perth with a cable connection and the pages are not fast to open which is very disappointing as it does not get any better than this connection :!:

I haven't noticed any speed differences (but I'm not seeing any of the adverts either, which might be making a difference).

Some more comments:
  • The "get daily" search option (link: Search Results - The Australian Frequent Flyer Online Community) isn't linked from the Quick Links dropdown any longer - could this be reinstated?
  • The Google custom search has gone walkabouts and it appears to have been replaced by a v inferior vBulletin search. Could this also be reinstated?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

Perhaps notzac can confirm this issue for me, but on my mac, if I'm using Safari and click the "double arrow - last post" button (
lastpost-right.png
) when logged out, I head straight to the post, but when logged in I end up at the top of the thread. In Firefox, there's no issue... so it's a Webkit issue?
