IHG Hotels that recognise status

Surfers Crowne Plaza upgrade. Complimentary water and separate shower and bath but strangely no soap dispenser by the bath. Took drink but also points were awarded. Don't seem to understand the concept of full charge-back.

Holiday Inn Express Brisbane 11 Nov 2025. Nominal "Upgrade" high floor. Two Tim Tams on bed! Construction site opposite running 24 hrs with heavy vehicle movement. The occasional "clang" of scaffolding poles not welcome throughout the night. Room smaller that other HIX I've stayed at. Breakfast room already well occupied by 6:25 am waiting for opening our!
Left charger in the room and sent photo with various options. Nice thought! If any one wants a small USB phone charger in Brisbane please let me know. No way I can collect in 30 days.

Holiday Inn Potts Point Sydney.
Booked Premier Harbour View. Given Junior Suite. I've stayed enough to be given special business rate but then I believe anyone can negotiate these directly with the hotel. Worked out about 50% of rack rate.. Two nights and managed to get two drink vouchers each night. Large Macadamia nut cookie as welcome gift. Nice change from small jar of branded mints!
Some staff refugees from Crowne Plaza Coogee beach.

Any IHG hotel I've stayed in offers soft or hard pillows.

The bed is firm as last time with a choice of firm or soft pillows on the bed (labelled! - why don’t other hotels do this!).
My local Holiday Inn in suburban Sydney has the firm/soft pillows labelled.

Good to see that this Hotel Indigo has chilli for breakfast; I stayed at the Flinders St one shortly after they opened and they didn't have chilli flakes for my fried egg, only Tabasco ... Haven't been back since (amongst other reasons)

Hotel: InterContinental Brisbane
When: November 2025
Status: Platinum Ambassador
Rate: avg. $165/night (Ambassador complimentary weekend night certificate)
Booked: 1 King Classic
Received: 1 King Classic High Floor Lounge Access (two-category upgrade, was initially upgraded to 1 King Classic High Floor about a week out then upgraded again the day before arrival. I had an annual lounge pass anyway so would have received Club access regardless)

I was keen to check out this new addition to the IC family and the Ambassador BOGO rate worked well here as Friday night (i.e. the paid night) was much cheaper than Saturday night. The hotel only reflagged over to IC from Hilton in July this year and is currently in a bit of a holding phase prior to a scheduled refurbishment starting in 2026. That said I still think the facilities are in good working condition and it was a very enjoyable stay.

Arrived fairly late at about 10:30pm after my delayed flight from Sydney and was warmly welcomed at check-in, the receptionist mentioned it had been a busy night for them with a lot of guests looking to extend their stay due to flight cancellations. They had my annual lounge pass on file and provided a club welcome letter and walked through the various amenities with me. Choice of welcome amenity was also offered and I chose the drink voucher, was provided with 2x vouchers for use at the bar.

My room was on the 24th floor and although I would guess the last major refurbishment was probably around 10-15 years ago, everything was still in good working condition, clean and comfortable. The bedroom had a full-size work station, ample storage space, a comfortable chair / footrest, fully stocked minibar and a smallish TV which had free-to-air stations plus Chromecast. Two complimentary bottles of water were provided and replenished daily, not sure if this is just for Ambassadors or something everyone receives. The bathroom was excellent given the age of the property, it was a proper walk-in shower! Standard Byredo amenities were provided as well as toothbrushes, razors etc. Towels were large and plentiful. Wi-Fi was good, housekeeping was good, the only three gripes I had with the room were the low-ply toilet paper, an airconditioning unit which was pretty noisy even at the lowest fan level and the lack of power points near the bed! I find this is common at older properties and hopefully something they address in the next refurb, I was ok because I travel with a long cable and the powerpoint near the chair was close enough that I could still use it, but this would be a problem for others.

The Club InterContinental is located on the top floor (25th floor) of the hotel and by chance was essentially directly above my room. Whilst not particularly large, perhaps taking up the size of about 3-4 rooms, it was never at capacity during my visit. F&B presentations include breakfast from 6.30-10am on weekdays / 7-10.30am on weekends, afternoon tea from 2-4pm and evening drinks and canapés from 5-7pm. Complimentary non-alcoholic drinks and refreshments are available all day.

To be honest the afternoon tea was my favourite service, you can go for the full set consisting of sandwiches, scones and cakes or if you prefer you can pick and choose the items you want. The scones were the best I have had anywhere and the cakes were fantastic. I'm not sure if their cake/pastry chef is in house or external but they are some of the best I've seen at a major brand anywhere!

The evening service was naturally the busiest period in the lounge and consisted of two hot canapés served to your table (lamb kofta and sweet potato croquette the night I visited) and a small cold buffet. For drinks they had four coughtails, five beers (including Heineken Zero which I appreciated having cut back on alcohol), standard spirits and a seection of wines. Drink top-ups were regularly offered and they were more than happy to serve extra rounds of the hot items if you wanted. Another table had guests with dietary requirements (gluten free in this case) and it was well attended to, they even had some items specially prepared for them.

For breakfast, the receptionist mentioned that those with lounge access can choose between the main buffet at Latitude 27 or the club breakfast, so I tried both over the two mornings. Breakfast in the Club is buffet style and basically a limited version of what is available downstairs. Lounge staff take a coffee order on arrival however it is made from a machine which you can also self-serve at if you prefer. They also asked if I wanted a fresh juice and I said I'd take an orange juice but instead some multi-fruit thing came out, I think that was the only option they had. Latitude 27 in comparison had a lot more variety plus things like an egg station and barista coffee, which weren't available upstairs. The downside was that despite being a huge restaurant it was very busy, so coffee orders might take time and I didn't bother getting one. The only advantage I felt the Club had was that breakfast there was much quieter. Overall I would say Latitude 27 is the way to go.

Regarding other F&B offerings, in addition to 24-hour room service the restaurant is also open for dinner and the adjoining Latitude 27 bar is open all day and serves light snacks/meals. In order to use my $25 Ambassador F&B credit I visited the bar for lunch and got the saltbush fried calamari, it was pretty good. Paired with my free drink vouchers it was an excellent lunch and entirely covered by the F&B credit and vouchers 😂

In terms of other amenities, there is a well-equipped gym and a medium-sized outdoor pool and sauna. I also saw some references to a tennis court and have seen some pictures of it when the hotel was a Hilton but I didn't go looking for it. As Australia's only Harry Seidler designed hotel the atrium is very much a focal point for the hotel and it is a beautiful space, I hope they preserve its ambience in the refurb. When visiting recently reflagged hotels I like keeping a lookout for references to the old brand but, try as I might, I didn't find any! They've done a really good job removing Hilton references even on some of the more 'administrative' signage that you would think would be a low order priority.

The location is central and conveniently from the reception on the 6th floor you can enter/exit to either Queen Street Mall on one side (only available til 11pm) or the main driveway on Elizabeth Street.

I had forgotten to ask about my guaranteed 4pm check-out on arrival and it hadn't been proactively offered so I visited the front desk the morning after - the receptionist on at the time, whilst very friendly and professional was perhaps new and not across the benefits so locked in a 2pm late checkout and said to check again on the morning of departure - I just returned later that evening and a more experienced receptionist locked in 4pm for me without any trouble. Not a complaint here as I'm sure I could have pushed for 4pm at the start but was happy to let it play out. I would definitely say a highlight of this hotel is its staff, everyone was very well-intentioned and happy to engage with guests. The lounge staff deserve a particular callout, they were good at remembering names and food/beverage/seating preferences.

Overall a very nice stay and at $165/night with lounge access there are no material complaints from me. It's probably a good time to visit now as the rates will certainly rise post-refurb.

Booked: 1 King Classic

Did absolutely nothing for my birthday, like Sydney IC the year before 🫠 Hoping to spend next year's birthday in Singapore (I should also have an Annual Lounge Pass by then, so I guess my options are either the remaining IC at Robertson Quay, or voco Orchard)

I actually preferred the IC RQ in Singapore to the one at Bugis, but only if I could be assured of a full-sized room (i.e. the King Junior Suite). Booking a category below that suite and having the property confirm the upgrade was the way to do it. The standard rooms there are all too small and awkward otherwise. Better luck for next time!

Voco would be my choice, pretty solid property when it was the Hilton and get lounge setup, hopefully nothing has changed.

The lounge at Voco is the same physically as it was but there the comparison ends. The food when we stayed was quite light on. One person running the lounge who frequently disappeared.
Whereas at RQ the lounge is spacious with good service and OK food.
When we had the IC bugis cancel our early January booking as it had been sold we thought about the Voco and RQ. very little difference in price so we chose the RQ.

I'll report on IC Auckland birthday service in a couple of weeks
Hope they treat you well! I've been spoilt before when IC Perth City Centre upgraded me to a junior suite and saw it was my birthday the day after arrival in 2023. voco Brisbane City Centre gave a bottle of sparkling wine last year the weekend before my birthday. Both IC Sydney and IC Melbourne were also stays that fell on my birthday

Hotel: voco Gosford
When: November 2025
Status: Platinum Ambassador
Rate: $425/night (IHG Sports Supporter rate)
Booked: Standard Room
Received: 1 King Premium Balcony (two-category upgrade, visible online a couple of weeks out from my stay)

A quick one-night trip up to the Central Coast to watch the Matildas play New Zealand and try out the brand new voco Gosford, which was only in its second week of operations! It was certainly a trial by fire for the hotel as they were fully booked for this event and even had the Matildas and the entire support crew staying there. Rates are typically much less than I paid but given the special event they were charging a substantial premium.

Arrived just after 1pm and unfortunately the room wasn't ready - the receptionist who initially assisted me was very unfamiliar with the system, struggled through the check-in formalities with some help from her colleagues and only mentioned at the end that the room actually wasn't ready yet and while they could guarantee 3pm they weren't sure if it would be available any earlier and wouldn't be able to call me either as it was a "manual check" to see if the room was available. It seemed they were turning away everyone arriving before 3pm.

Spent some time exploring and having a late lunch at one of the hotel's restaurants before returning to the front desk at around 2:30pm. Thankfully this time I was looked after by another receptionist Bonnie who was an absolute superstar! She apologised for the delay, recognised my status (the other receptionist hadn't) and was shocked I hadn't been given a drink while I waited so gave me a few extra welcome drink vouchers. She walked through all the facilities of the hotel pointing out it was the first day for a number of the restaurants/bars (still in soft open) and insisted on delivering my luggage to my room.

My room was on the top floor and being brand new had all the modern comforts one could hope for. The King bed was plush and super comfortable, the TV was huge and included Chromecast and other apps in addition to free-to-air channels and there were plenty of powerpoints including USB points near the bed. Tea and coffee facilities were a bit limited but did include pods and there was ample storage space. The balcony was reasonably large with two chairs and I had a view overlooking downtown Gosford, I would say the rooms with bay views or stadium views would be preferable but for a short stay no complaints. Wi-Fi was fast and air-conditioning worked well. A hand-written card as well as two bottles of Wallaby water and a plate of exceptionally good macarons had been left on the table as a welcome amenity.

The bathroom was spacious and fitted out with Apotheke white vetiver amenities. The shower had the option of a rainfall or regular showerhead and was very spacious with good non-slip tiling. Towels were large and plush. One small problem and I won't penalise them for it because it's to be expected from new builds but the tap in the shower fell right off! I was still able to turn it on/off so wasn't a huge deal and noted it for them to fix at check-out.

Hotel facilities include a gym, pool and sauna, however the sauna was not open for guests yet. The gym was pretty well equipped with treadmills/bikes/weights etc and was nice and cold. The pool is huge and includes a swim-up bar, which seems pretty luxurious for a hotel in Australia let alone in a regional centre! At the time of my stay they hadn't gotten around to putting up any umbrellas or deck chairs so people were literally just sunbaking on the tiles but I assume this will be addressed soon. Another nice feature were the Brita filtered water taps by the elevators on every floor.

The hotel is part of the broader Archibald Precinct which includes luxury residential apartments and is a bit of a lifestyle and leisure precinct so there are a surprising number of restaurants and bars to enjoy. On the ground floor there is a large multi-purpose area containing Paolo's pizzeria as well as Archie's pub and the adjoining Ironbark restaurant, all of which are popular with the public as well. Within the hotel lobby they have the Lobby Bar, on the fifth floor by the pool they have the all-day Saltfire restaurant and bar, which is currently only open for buffet breakfast and serves the pool swim-up bar, then on the top floor they will have the Astra Rooftop, not currently open but will serve drinks and Japanese food.

I had my lunch on arrival at Archie's/Ironbark, it was actually their first day of operations but things were running reasonably well and service was quick - I had a chicken parmigiana with fries and it was a huge serving. Also visited here in the evening for drinks with friends after the match and it was still very busy, I think it's open til 2am on weekends. The lobby bar had plenty of seating and was a good place to use my welcome drink vouchers, they even had a non-alcoholic beer on offer which I appreciated.

Buffet breakfast is served at Saltfire and at check-in I was asked if I would like to pre-book for $35 which was a $7 saving on the walk-in price so I took it. It was a reasonably extensive buffet with cold cuts, plenty of bakery, cereals, juices, a little bit fruit and yoghurt and a hot selection consisting of mushrooms, tomatoes, sausages, hash browns, baked beans and scrambled, poached and boiled eggs. There were plenty of gluten-free items which were all well labelled. I would say the quality of the food was above my expectations, some of the highlights were the muffins, the sausages and I was surprised to see Pepe Saya butter in the bakery section. Two areas for improvement would be introducing cooked-to-order eggs (including omelettes) and improving coffee service; on arrival I was asked for my coffee order and after waiting a while I noticed later arrivals starting to receive their coffees so enquired about mine, even after asking it still took a while for my flat white to arrive and it wasn't a good one either. For $35 / $42 it is on the pricey side so I'd skip it unless included in your rate.

I requested a 12:30pm late checkout which was granted; there was a power outage shortly before my departure which lasted for about half an hour. There is still a bit of construction going on and being new these things will happen so I wasn't particularly fussed and the staff were very apologetic and checking in on guests to ensure they were ok and comfortable during the outage.

In summary I was happy with the stay and where there were faults, they were reasonably minor and I'd be happy to mark it down to being a new hotel during a busy period, with staff still needing to get up to speed. Lots of small things they could fix, like getting more efficient with room maintenance so they can facilitate early check-ins (probably sounds a bit entitled but as a Plat Amb / former Diamond Amb I don't think I've ever been turned away for an arrival after midday and in many cases have even been given a room earlier than that!) and also making better use of the systems they have, for example the staff seem to have a tendency to want to write things down on scrap bits of paper at check-in / check-out at the restaurants etc when they have systems that could better capture this information if they became more familiar with them.

Would be happy to return if there was another event that brought me to Gosford.

Hotel: Hotel Indigo Adelaide Markets
When: December 2025
Status: Platinum Ambassador
Booked: Standard Room
Received: 1 King Premium Corner Room

Booked for work, so a WoAG rate and booking not visible on the app - upgrade confirmed at arrival.

While able to check in at 11am, I was too early for the room and dropped bags without trouble, collecting my key after returning from the office. Status was acknowledged and Welcome Amenity offered.

Room was good overall, well designed and good space without being spacious, lots of power and USB2/USBC points, and 500ml mineral water provided. No ironing board was unexpected but i expect available on request.

The pillows were great, the bed however was rock hard and enough a problem for me to not return here in future. A shame, as the rooftop bar was a good space to chill, the infinity pool on level 4 is a great benefit too.

I like this property, location is good and i like the rooms.

FYI you can ask for a mattress topper, whilst I dont remember the bed being hard at this Indigo, I used to have to stay at another property for work where the beds were like concrete and after complaining after first stay they put a note on my profile and after that there was always a foam mattress topper (a couple of inches thick) which made the beds way more comfortable on future stays.

First time I'd been to Adelaide, I agree the location was phenomenal if you love your food: next to amazing markets and Chinatown.

Will definitely consider the topper request and returning next time. I also provided feedback that a hard bed is a deal breaker even with every other aspect excellent, hopefully they take that on board

Maybe call ahead to double check that a topper is available at this specific hotel, lest be in agony again.
