Qantas Business Class meals & menus

QF68 BLR-SYD. Enjoyed the flight and the food was amazing. Tasted really good for a flight meal.

PDB - Champagne or sparkling water

Pre-meal beverage - Bloody Mary. It was too much BM for me, so I only had half of it. The CSM, Matt asked if the drink was not good and offered to make another drink. I declined politely.

A bit of background on my experience with BM - I had Bloody Mary for the very first time in my life at SYD F lounge last week and IT WAS REALLY GOOD! I thought the one offered on the plane would be similar (or comparable), but nah ...

Entree - Shorba (soup) and Neil's salad with Naan bread. Bread top-ups offered generously.

Wines on this service were :

1. Credaro Kinship Margaret River 2017 Cab Sav
2. The Lane 2020 Shiraz
3. Penfolds 311 Chardy

I chose the 2017 Cab Sav with my meals

Mains - Paneer Korma, Dhal, rice & mix veg dry curry

Dessert was panacotta with passion fruit puree, pineapple & mango

No Lindt chocolate on this service. We were offered an assortment box and can choose one from it. Also offered a Port or Muscat wine to finish. I chose the Muscat (did not take a pic)

Breakfast - prior to landing at SYD - upma, vada, kuzhi paniyaaram, sambhar, coconut chutney & mango lassi. I also chose the museli & coffee, just in case.

Localised catering ex BLR looks great!
The food was fresh as well ... for instance, "upma" normally becomes soggy (releases water) or dries up (becomes thorny/sharp to eat) when served the next day. But this upma was good ... guess the heating system in the aircraft did a great job reheating the dishes. The dhal was fresh too ... thoroughly enjoyed it.

I had the cognac on the FA's advice for week #2. Have to say I preferred the muscat, inspite of, or possibly because of, the huge pour of both...

QF781 24-SEP-22

No PDB. Drinks were served soon after takeoff, it's been a while so good to see G&Ts back available domestically!

QF781 GandT.jpg

Was seated in row 2, by the time I was served my first preference of the butter chicken was gone, a choice of beef or buffalo and chickpea, opted for the beef which was almost like gravy beef ... washed down by the single red available: Portarlington Ridge Shiraz - would not be my first preference again!

Maggie Beer ice cream was served just prior to descent.

QF71 25-SEP-22

PDB served with a choice of waters (still/sparkling) or champagne.

Meal orders taken about 30mins after take off with first drinks served about an hour after. Meal served about 2hrs after wheels-up with the pastry served about an hour prior to arrival into Singapore. Must say I felt for the cabin crew who were doing a swift turnaround and working the return flight back to PER.

QF883 ADL-PER, 6:15 departure. No PDB.

Breakfast choices in 1C of muesli, frittata or scrambled egg ( I think). I chose frittata with bacon, sausage, tomato, baked beans (😳) and onion chutney. Also yogurt and a ‘danish’. Very nice (except the danish 🙂)

No photo sorry but I had the quinoa and roast carrot salad with hard boiled eggs yesterday on SYD ADL for a scheduled 10.40 departure (actual departure more like 12.20 🙄) and it was great. I've had it twice now and enjoyed it. The garlic ginger dressing on the salad really makes it.

The FA was very apologetic that he could only offer one slice of bread each to the full J cabin as 'they only loaded one loaf' 🙄😂

Update: the other option was a prosciutto sandwich so I guess the caterer would argue that the single loaf of bread was only for the pax who ordered salad, and that extra bread shouldn't need to be offered to pax who ordered the sandwich.

Had a croque monsieur - or should that be “Cr@p, Monsieur?” 🤬 MEL-CBR QF1524 1620h yesterday. It was the only offering.

First experience of that thing. What a disgusting offering. Doughy tasteless bread and cheap ham.

A croque monsieur should be an absolute delight. Make it extra decadent by adding some fresh truffle.
