I would say I'm amazed that QF is still cycling these menus through after 5+ months but I'm not - these are the same as I've experienced going to UK and US in May. You used to get a little more variety across different international routes, however doesn't appear to be the case anymore (with the exception of maybe a solitary regional offering on certain routes - e.g. biryani on a flight to India).

CNS-SYD 1:30pm departure. Offered lamb shank or some chicken in a cream sauce. Lamb was really good. This should be a staple offering IMHO.

What isn't clear to me is why sometimes they serve wine in these terrible glasses and other times use the bigger ones.

Options were barramundi, chicken or the prosciutto salad. Fish is a bit average. MrsDaver6 went the chicken which is pretty tasty. I got a good wine glass, MrsDaver6 the average one.

QF5 SYD-PER
Excellent menu, service and food. The main was easily the best dish I have had on QF J in years. Love the little Italian touches. Blankets, pillows and mattress topper supplied.
PDB was water, juice or Champagne (Jacquart).
Pre-dinner drinks with smoked almonds.

The definite benefit of being on a connecting international flight. No menus or similar meals on purely SYD-PER domestic flights! That’s why I have booked a few QF9 MEL-PER!

Yep, have flown QF9 a few times for that reason and now adding QF5 to that elite list.

QF841 - DRW-SYD - 4/9/22
SDT-1310 - Duration 4:10
Check in was quick and simple and literally no one at security. The Qantas pub was also not too full. Pretty decent food. Wedges, pulled pork, fried chicken wings and the usual soup, salad and sandwich area. The coughtail of the week was vodka gimlet. Priority boarding was called 5 mins ahead of general boarding. The seat wasn’t very clean. Crumps in the wrinkles and marks all over the side wall of the seat in-front. Jackets were also hung but no PDB.

We finished boarding at 1300 but due to a runway change, baggage loading delay and having to wait for an arriving aircraft to clear the runway and taxi to gate meant we left 30 mins late. The service was really good. Do A330’s have different domestic and international crew? As the crew mentioned they were meant to go to LAX that day but ended up doing the DRW flight. Two rounds of drinks were offered before lunch. Only 2 options, braised lamb with mash or chicken breast in Parmesan sauce. I opted for the latter and it was really good. The sauce was delicious although the veggies were a bit bland. Also on the tray was the usual sourdough, a Lindt ball and a lamington with ham and cream. As trays were cleared tea and coffee were offered. The crew came through every few minutes after that offering refills of wine or any other drinks. About 1 hour before landing another round of coffee or tea with passion fruit biscuits.

Overall a good flight.

Can we get the DRW F&B manager on secondment in Sydney for a bit? I'm not used to this opulence...
