Indeed....the following line was particularly interesting.

The lagging growth was the result of "some housekeeping stuff that just had to happen", Mr Eikmeier said.Chief among these was improving delivery, which he said had been the "worst part of our customers' experience".

This was more concerning:

Vinomofo is also trying to reduce its reliance on being a clearance service for local winemakers, as the decade-long oversupply of Australian wine eases.

While it is no good for us savvy consumers here, that makes sense for VM and the winemakers. I wonder which winemakers feel they have been burnt or their brands damaged in dancing with VM? I'm thinking of things like the Mitolo Cantiniere & various other "made for VM" wines still under the original winery brand, not to mention selling wines at a lower price than even competitors can buy for (hence the ushering in of 'secret selection'/hidden label style offerings from just about every online retailer).

I also wonder how many wineries have actually been able to leverage and grow their brand (essentially into higher-priced sales either thru cellar door or more traditional retailers) - I would argue Amelia Park have probably done so, and would have put Maverick in there but for the fact they have sold up. Perhaps there are a couple more, but I'd say a quite a few brands worked with only once with VM, after they realised their branding/pricing didn't gain thru any synergy.

I get that VM are a kind of market disruptor, but the challenge is in gaining the trust of the industry in order to grow both theirs and the industry's margins. This is the part they might find a bit tougher from now on. I also tend to think introducing a 'Loyalty club' is kind of admitting diminishing returns are in place, rather than looking to expand even faster.

5 orders in the previous 12 months for me (22 the year before that... )

edit: lots of $50 referal credits.....

So VIMs earn $50 per referral not $25 like everyone else?

I have ordered 30 in the last 12 months.

Wow - all for yourself? 6pks or 12pks? How much have you bought from elsewhere?

I'm a Foundation member (I have never been charged shipping), and also received lounge access leading me to believe it may be more random than selective...?

What benefits do Foundation members have other than free shipping?

Mine have fallen away too I must admit, but I still get a little jittery when a red hot deal comes around and free shipping isn't on offer (Sexton Merlot from Giant Steps being a case in point), I'm just a common garden variety of VIM but that's OK with me.

Except contrary to being an apparent once-off offer, the Sexton Merlot ended up returning with free shipping :(

To be honest I didn't see any massive advantage when the VIM first tier came around, most of the wines under the "exclusive offer" banner were too pricey for the more budget-minded buyer like myself to take up, in any case, I think free shipping 24/7 is obviously important to those that missed out and that's the difference.

The combination of free shipping and price-matching with high-demand/low-supply wines is potent :)

I can't speak for Rocket09, but I've bought 33 cases in the past 12 months (mostly 6-packs). The free shipping would have saved me only a couple of per cent on my spend, so I really don't care.

IMHO, saving a $1/bottle on high demand wines really isn't worth agonizing about.

The link to the report on the current state of the wine industry gives an insight into why so little Barossan "juice" as VM describes it has been on offer for quite some time now.... For example, Barossa Shiraz continues to be one of the most highly sought after grapes in Australia (and one of the most in-demand varieties in the world!) and due to low yields in 2013 and 2014, Barossa Shiraz fruit was labelled by Austwine in 2015 as being in a state of undersupply7.

Bloody nice drop AND I missed it the second time around free shipping notwithstanding :-| but very happy to still have 1/2 dozen left in the cellar.

One of our bottles of the Merlot was off...anyone know what VM do in that case?

You may need to describe "off" in a little more detail, particularly as it is fairly uncommon for individual bottle variation with screwcapped wines. But I did once encounter a Bests winery a dreadful Bin 1 Shiraz, freshly opened and undrinkable with weird "chemical" flavours, the next bottle from the same case was pristine.

But for a recent tca-tainted cork-sealed bottle they gave me a credit for the price of the bottle and didn't need the cork or re-corked bottle and contents back.

Hard to describe as it was a couple of weeks ago, but was quite unpleasant to drink compared with previous bottles and we poured most of it down the sink...

In that case it's entirely up to VM to decide whether to refund the price or not, they don't really have to unless you can show it was "faulty' and not that it wasn't your palate state or food combination etc making it unpleasant. It would be an interesting exercise to try.

The manager of a local shop told me years ago of some of the blatantly fraudulent attempts that were made to get replacement bottles for supposedly faulty wine and that's the reason many of the big companies insist on returning the wine or cork (usually at their cost) for assessment.

Probably not worth the effort given the price, plus I've been pretty lucky to only have one or two bad bottles. Definitely not just me; my mum took a whiff of the bottle and declared it off as well.

Vinegar or nail-varnish like aromas are two common descriptors for volatility faults that you identify by smell, where there is excess oxygen ingress, due to a poor cork or faulty/damaged screwcap.

It was actually 29 since the start of July 2016. A few sixers but mostly cases, and I would say 75% for myself....maybe more. Probably bought another 6-10 cases elsewhere.

can confirm it is not MSV... nor is it the Saltram 06 mamre brooke which i thought it could be as i had TWE call me two weeks ago offering this one..
