For all those who think they do a lot of flying, compare yours with IainF's AA account YTD:

Mileage Summary

Summary Date:Oct 2006
Program to Date Miles: 156,023
YTD Elite Qualifying Points: 95,242
YTD Elite Qualifying Miles: 78,481
YTD Elite Qualifying Segments: 69
Miles Towards Elite Upgrades: 57,523
Miles with Expiration Deferred Through 10/17/09: 140,023
Upgrade Account Balance: 19
Total Available Award Mileage: 140,023

Only 4800 EQPs to go to achieve Executive Platinum...and two flights still to post....as well as three flights next week, BNE/MEL/ADL/BNE.....

So hopefully, he'll be showing Emerald before his upcoming flights to TKO and HKG (both in H or B class).

His expectation is those flights will give another 40, 000 miles and at least 30 000 EQP's....... plus all his domestic trips before year end.

He should hit the 125 000 EQP bonus which will give him an extra 2 eVIP's....so his year end total will amount to around 185 000 miles to use and 10 eVIPs.

Now that's what I call some serious flying. I think this year he's up over the 100 segmant mark in total if you include the Jetstar/Qantaslink/Virgin flights he's done...

October isn't yet complete, but based on flown to date and some planned domestic flights the next few days ...

October only

47 flights
75,393 flown miles

YTD

190 flights
373,346 flown miles
52 nights (4+ hours) spent on planes

Kiwi Flyer, you are both a posting and a flying freak. I don't think too many people will top your effort for 2006.

By the end of the year I will have over 100 short flights (under 500 miles) AND 100 long flights (over 1500 miles), plus of course some flights between 500 and 1500 miles.

Looking at that as well - I guess its mostly economy flights as well!!! Thats a LOT of flying! Should eb the same as mine next year if global project happens - estimated at about 150K miles to be flown.

My planned activity until end of Nov is:

27/10 SYD-BKK
3/11 BKK-SYD
4/11 SYD-AKL
4/11 AKL-LAX
4/11 LAX-JFK
8/11 NYC-LHR
9/11 LHR-LCA
12/11 LCA-LHR
12/11 LHR-HKG
13/11 HKG-SYD
19/11 SYD-SIN
24/11 SIN-SYD

The short flights almost all economy. Thankfully most of the longer ones were not (but still some are economy and premium economy). Even so, I will have flown equivalent to twice around the world in economy this year.

16:40 into AKL
19:40 out to LAX

Not sure if that is enough time? Havent had a stop off like this before where out the airport was a consideration. Out of interest I wonder whether i have to pay departure tax if I am only transiting through AKL (not a decision maker - just interesting)

No departure tax for transits under 24 hours (from scheduled time of arrival into NZ to scheduled time of departure from NZ).

3 hours is enough to go landside, but hardly long enough to bother unless you especially want to do/get something not available airside. You'd have a maximum of an hour to do anything landside.

I think staying airside will be the go. Given the lack of power on the AKL-LAX flight  I need the laptop to be fully charged before take off (after using it on the SYD-AKL flight - also powerless) and will probably spend that time moving everything onto the hard drive rather than running it off the external DVD drive on the plane). As I only have 1 hour at home I need to dump everything I want onto a dvd quickly and then sort it out on the hard drive.

I think I am pretty much done for October:

PER/MEL
MEL/PER
PER/SYD
SYD/PER
PER/MEL
MEL/PER

(Of course, may depend on what I decide to do with this)

enjoy the AKL lounge

I hope to - been there a couple of times before - very quiet - although this will be my first trip to a QP at the weekend not at Breakfast time - it will be a strange experience - I expect a lot less suits and tripping over little people ;)

Disappointing that QF has not done anything about it yet. I have heard of people being comp'd a long way short of requalification. Good luck.

Yep it happens. I've managed to get requalified 2 months early and with the massive amount of 210 SC this year. :D :D :D

Well, I have only got to this point following a bit of a last minute surge in October. Mind you I did requalify last year with around 260.

Ahhh.... That explains it. I guess they don't like to comp platinum 2 years in a row.

There are plenty of reports of AFFers and FTers getting comped 2 years in a row. It is probably the late surge of SC earning which QF have held back on oz_mark. Good luck.
