Young-ish pax experiences

I'll be the one dissenter here. I'm not that fussed over the PJ's (I will take them to give away if they are handing them out). I have worn the top, but certainly not the pants. Before they used to give out PJs (which was also before I used to travel in J) I always used to change into a light t-shirt and loose shorts for sleeping and I still do that - as I find it more comfortable. In any event most of the flights I take are either on SQ or flights where QF don't hand out PJs (eg QF10 SIN-MEL). Or now a lot of them will be in Y.

Would have been interesting the return to the gate was due to a faulty aircraft and they off-loaded the passengers. I wonder how many people would be wandering around the terminal in the J PJs for a few hours?

No chance with me.

In fact, even if QF did have PJs that fit me, I still wouldn't wear them on board because I still cannot bring myself to wearing PJs in public - aircraft cabin included. If I'm wearing a business attire, that's what I sleep in on board. So, if the aircraft goes tech and I have to go into the terminal building, I certainly won't be in PJs

That is the reason I don't commit myself to the PJs until we are well into the climb, and the seatbelt sign has been extinguished...

Don't you just hate it when the seatbelt sign catches fire and needs to be extinguished :p

I always wait to hear what the FAs will say when they are asked to "disarm doors".

FA: "My what a wonderful door you are. You know I've never seen a door as amazing as you!"
Door (embarrassed, blushing): Aw! Shucks!

AFAIK the act of disarming the doors is just that... Turning off the trigger for the explosive charge that inflates the slides when the exit is opened in an emergency.. (hence the disarm and cross check!

Just watched a film called the "wedding Crashers" trans-tasman - plenty of disarming going on there ... similar to what you described, but far more oganic ... :p

Not that I have heard the term 'cross check' on QF for some time. I think DJ do it.

I used to change into my PJs immediately after getting them. Then I realised that it cuts down my pre take off drinking time, so I now change into them immediately after take off when the seat belt sign has been eliminated.

I read a snippet in the paper a couple of years ago, that an announcement (quite possibly Freudian in nature) advised the crew to "disarm the doors and cross-dress".

I'm sure that was a QF flight I was on going to the Sydney Mardi Gras!

Yep I can't recall the last time I heard the captain ask the FA's to cross check - all I hear is "cabin crew please disarm doors".

They only do it on the Embraer's. I would imagine you don't need to do it on a 737? No idea to be honest but it seems to be that no-one cross-checks on one.
