Will drop from WP on 1/2/18 after 5 years as WP

Has anyone received a WP comp or offer to stay WP lately?

I was comped last September. Wasn't expecting it as only had 800 status credits. Soft landing would have been OK as only 100 short of LTG. However I certainly appreciate another year of WP and will most likely reach the 1200 number again this year.

Have only done 1 paid QF flight with 20 SC's this year.

About 20 F flights all on point though ;) in last year

Have you had a comp recently? What was your SC total for the past 3 years?

So you only just missed out this year?

If your average for the past three years is 1200+ then you should be due a comp (as long as you got your 4~'s this year I guess).

Well, you have had a nice time flying around in F on points. Hardly surprising that you won’t requal WP.
I’m guessing that with a few more than the one paid for sector you might have found yourself more likely to receive a comp. Good luck with it.

I've heard of a few being offered another year of WP for 120000 points.

seems comps are getting harder to come by.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

ueah so 1/4 ~ and 20SC?

good luck with that comp :D

you've enjoyed the good stuff, but yeah probably need to do some more actual paid travel if you want the WP.

Mrsdrron was 150 SCs short of requal for WP at the end of November. Her 3 year average was 1350 SCs.
The offer she got was 120000 QFF points to retain WP.She declined.

If a person has the cash/wherewithal to accrue points for 20 award F trips in a year, let alone the time to fly them, then one concludes that person should have the cash/wherewithal to execute a couple of high SC yielding status runs. It's not like 1200 SCs are difficult to get under the right circumstances.

or the OP is burning points in order to churn or something (tho why they might then want to retain WP is questionable, unless it was to keep OWE while moving to BA or AA as they build there). Could be many reasons I guess.

And I suppose a comp is still possible (or an offer, thougjh I think any offers would have been made by now) but on the surface Only flying 1~ for 20SC (the reward flights are irrelevant I would think) I think it could be a bridge too far.. but you never know, it has happened in the past.

I wish them luck but I just can't see it happening.

The OP has just a couple of weeks to do it and seemingly no DSC on offer. What your suggestion be?

I don’t have a suggestion that is cost effective for the benefits of Platinum. SYD-LHR F return and SYD-HKG J return would get you there. Or 4xMEL-SYD-DPS J return. Starting to plan on February 1st 2017 would have been a good idea too.

If the OP could afford to pay revenue J and F fares then the status benefits of WP would be minimal IMHO. (well F lounge access for J, but you take my point)

I suppose it's not for us to judge or try and figure out what the situation is. The questiom was raised as to if there would be a comp and it does seem unlikely, but it's not a zero chance either.
