What irritates you most while flying?

Just wanted to underline and make bold this one especially..... It is just plain rude and inconsiderate. These are generally the people that think they are top notch and that the entire bay above that seat belongs to them. They are also the same people that have to have their luggage scanned 3-4 times because they have crammed so much into their "carry on".
They are the people that think they are sooo much busier than the rest of us and can not possibly wait for their bags... then they are the same people that you see standing out the front waiting for their ride well after you have picked up your bag, got your rental car and driving off....

Hmm a bit of a mixed message for me - yes I loathe people that slow us down through securitty - but I believe that I "own" the space in the overhead above me b ut at the same time I wouldnt want to slow anyone down at security...

Surely you mean that if there's two seats below the overhead, then you "own" half of it!!!

At least I am not alone knowing that most of the things that irritate me while flying have been mentioned in this thread.

The one that irritates me the most is serial recliners in WHY, especially ones seated in bulkhead or exit row. You know who you are. Yes I know you have a right but please be considerate for your fellow travellers.

I can't wait for the new WHY shell seats to be rolled out across the QF fleet so then I can reclaim my lost personal space.

They are not a F/A call button; I call them the ignore button; search for 'ignore' on previous post by me on the web site. :p

So if in WHY, get an aisle seat and be prepared to walk down to the galley!

As a recliner (yes a considerate one, no meal times etc) i also look forward to the shell seats, i wonder how they will be for taller people like myself.
CX and JL now have them on there updated planes don't they ? anybody tried them yet ?

;)

Can I have your attention please fellow AFF'ers,

We have a member here who has forgotten who he is, we do know he thinks he owns all of the baggage locker above his seat and likes to recline. If anyone does know who he is, could they please PM him at simongr.

Thankyou for your attention.

I just knew someone was going to say this :)

Boarding a plan on time, then waiting on the tarmac for an hour while they

1) Put the catering on
2) Finish loading the baggage
3) Refuel the plane! (First time I have ever been asked to have my seatbelt undone)
4) Try to make the entertainment system work

5) Try to open the cargo door so they an unload PAX luggage and freight from the inbound flight.

Cool, your Psychic (or is that Psycho). Can you tell me when QFF are going to ring and say Mr Reggie, we are rewarding you for your loyalty by comping you a AONE4?

Getting off my flight this morning in LA, to get an sms from my girlfriend to inform me of Hawthorn's 71 point loss to Adelaide, very annoying, but expected given she's a rabid Carlton supporter and we thumped them by 100 points a few weeks ago.

Airlines too lazy to load the wine they put on the wine list (yes YOU United), and the bloke I sat next to last night who use a tissue to protect his hand when touching the buttons on anything else that may have come in contact with germs (the whole aircraft perhaps), and they coughed and cleared his throat for much of the flight.

Get over it mate germs are everywhere.

5) Someone does a no-show and they have to offload their baggage

(Then again, on one long haul flight I get op-upped as a result of someone doing a no-show. They wanted my seat because of some tall pax - I was in an emergency exit row - and so they decided they'd move me to J to grab my seat. Prior to the no-show, there was no spare J seat. So, thank you no-show pax :D :p)

A lot of what has been mentioned annoys me, although mostly I'm amused:cool:

One thing has been getting right up my nose on QF: Coriander Chicken for my special meal dinner:mad:

For the last year or so that is all I get on flights 6pm - 8 pm in whY.

I'll upgrade to J and have nothing to avoid it!

1. 7. The poor quality of scotch served by most airlines in Y and J (and even F in the case of Qantas)

Poor quality Scotch - Chivas Regal in J and 18yo Chivas in F- I don't thinks so.

I do think so. Although QF has risen to 18yo Glenlivet in F, I do not rate the Chivas 18yo as a scotch worth of the F cabin. Compare it with the high quality wines and they could do a lot better than Chivas. The Glenlivit 18yo is is reasonable scotch for its price. But if they want a quality highland malt, they would be better with the Macallan 18yo.

And Chivas Regal is certainly not a decent scotch. It, and JW Black, are very much over-rated and in my opinion they are mixing scotches (i.e. to be mixed with Ginger Ale or Coke). Compare those to say BA J (Glenfiddich Solera Reserve) and CX J (JW Gold) and there is a major step up from a mixing scotch to a drinking scotch. Then there is JW Blue in F with both BA and CX.

But I would really like to see QF offer two more different styles. Yes, they have one blended and one single malt, but they are still similar and boring styles. Keep either of the Chivas 18 or Glenlivit 18 (my vote goes to Glenlivet) and add a Speyside or Islay style as well, such as Talisker 18yo or Laphroaig 15yo. And in J they could offer JW Gold and Laphroaig 10yo or Bowmores 17yo, again giving a choice of style and not just blended vs single malt.

Am I missing something - are we still talking about airline travel, or a restaurant? When I travel first, or business, whatever scotch they've served me has been fine. JW Black, Chives, Glenlivit etc. I can enjoy them all. You can't please everyone, and I don't expect them to try. If it's 12 or 18 years old, I couldn't care less. I might prefer 2yo JW Red - but I don't complain if they serve JW black. It's personal taste. If the experts say something tastes better, I don't care - it's what my taste buds tell me that counts. But on an airplane, I am more concerned with how comfortable the seats are, and how well the movies work to worry about the age of my scotch.
