What cheeses me off

I discovered the unfortunate side effect of being healthy today. After 6 years, I tried to make a booking at my doctors, only to be told I have been ‘de-activated’ and see my regular GP. “But you are my regular GP/clinic, I haven’t been sick so haven’t come in” I explained. Obviously have had COVID but no need to visit for that. Despite going there exclusively for over 20 years, having 3 kids and wife using the clinic, the receptionist wouldn’t budge.

Living regionally, I now have the arduous task of finding a clinic taking new patients or be prepared to travel 100km+. Looks like clinics are now running loyalty based access programs.
Have you considered asking for a meeting with the practice manager? A friend of mine had a “dispute” with an over zealous receptionist which was instantly resolved once the practice manager got involved

Went to Coles last night.

Used self serve check-out and paid cash. The change was 10c short. Yes it's only 10 cents but....

The lady at the self serve check-out totally disinterested. Yes I know it's only 10 cents but that's not the point. Is it? Still disinterested. The lady at service desk gave me 10c cents.

Yes it's only 10 cents but the correct change was not given. Yes I can easily walk away but I didn't walk away and won't walk away if happens again in future.

If you were short by 10 cents when paying into the machine it would NOT say - don't worry about it !! They would have paid you far more attention and eventually removed an item so you had sufficient to pay. Funny how it would not work the other way !

I had a call with the practice manager today and immediately given an appointment. All resolved once escalated.

They should also still have all your records (7 years for adults, 7 years after turning 18 for children). Which would prove you aren't "new".

I agree - a compliant to practice manager or practice principal is in order.

Edit: I note resolved.

That is not good at all to hear @gaz0303
In this instance, I would be writing to the doctor to express your dismay and respectfully requesting you to be reinstated as a patient.
Often the Doctor has little idea of what goes on out at their Reception.
Or, if possible, next time Mrs gaz/gaz offspring go in, you go in also and have the conversation directly with GP.
Good luck.
I won't pass comment on your last sentence 🤦‍♀️

Edit: just read updated post glad you had a satisfactory outcome @gaz0303

WCMO: overly efficient table clearing staff who will take full plates of food, drinks or anything if you dare get up from a table to go and get something else. TK lounge IST is terrible for this if you’re travelling as a single. The only way to combat it is apparently to leave all your valuables there.

TK lounge: I have a plate with some pide, a plate with some baklava, a juice and a bottle of water that I have just put onto the table. Go to get a coffee and within three minutes, all gone.

Yesterday morning in Sarajevo hotel breakfast: have plate of food and juice left where I was sitting including fork sitting from the table to the plate (perpendicular to it?) indicating still eating. Go and get a coffee, and come back to a cleared table and some other patron just sitting down there…

When solo, I take an inexpensive personal item like a notebook or a cap and leave it on the table while away. This seems to work quite well.

I was solo in the VA lounge a couple of years ago, and left my cardigan on the table along with my (full) drink while I went to grab food. Came back to them clearing my table 🤔

I have only just discovered my electricity bill does not include a "Controlled Load" component. The bill is split into "General Usage" and "Controlled Load" usage. The controlled load meter, the old moving iron meter, has remained the same reading since we moved in, all electricity being routed through the General Usage digital meter. The HWS (hot water service) should be connected to the Controlled Load meter and it is billed at roughly half the rate of the digital meter amount. When I contacted Origin Energy they were extremely unhelpful and told me (in writing) I should employ and electrician to see what is connected to the CL meter...obviously nothing.
Applause:
I've just got off the phone from a lovely lady at AUSGRID who has flagged an investigation and they will hopefully connect the controlled load. She will also check what compensation I might be entitled to.

Some pax interpret "full" as code for "flight-half-empty-overhead-locker-free-for-all" and simply require that extra little bit of convincing.
Yep, while "full" should mean that in and of itself, but we've got to many situations where "full" doesn't necessarily mean absolutely no space left.

A full tank of petrol often isn't, especially when that needle says F. A full tank should be almost dripping fuel out of it before capping.

If you have a meal and say you're full, that's often objectively not full. But to be honest, if you were objectively full, you'd probably be in big trouble.

If you can add a drop of water to a glass and nothing spills over, is it full yet?

I think many would look at a movie theatre with only 5 spare seats and say, "it's a full house". Guess one could say, "almost full".

"Completely full" is supposed to convince passengers that the flight doesn't have a single seat to spare, i.e. if it were built to seat and transport 168 pax, we have 168 pax. How effective that remark is in convincing pax to correctly stow baggage is a whole different fish.

You’re lucky.. I’d like to come back (or to) a cleaned-up table in VA Melb lounge just once. Probly because I’m there when the lounge is peak hour busy, but it seems the staff there never get on top of the dishes. Don’t start me on what mess some parents allow their kids to make..
