I have an I class flight on Qatar from LHR to DOH to ADL coming up shortly.

I have dropped from Gold to Silver on Qatar and this won't be quite enough to get me back to Gold.

I have just realised that I will drop from Silver on Virgin today.

I can find the points earn on the flights for Virgin but can't work out how to find the SC credit earn to see whether it's worth crediting to VA so I could possibly get back to Silver (which I know isn't much but it does get a couple of lounge passes a year)

The other alternative is to credit them to BA for more Avios. I'm LTG with QF and don't want to credit anything to them if possible (not that I can)

Any assistance appreciated.

So much confusion on whether to book through virgin or Qatar,
On virgin there is one business fare whereas Qatar there are 3-4 fare types with variations in seat selection lounge access etc
Then of course the flight from Doha to europe is QATAR plane.
Does anyone have any concrete info on this?

Need to consider your own circumstance and the new requirement for 50% of your SCs to be earned by yourself on VA coded or operated flights.

  • Booking on Virgin Australia, with a Velocity Frequent Flyer number attached:
    • You'll earn 160SC one way to Doha, then depending on where you are going in Europe, the SC for the other segment is dependent on the amount of miles you travel. See here.
    • You'll get lounge access to all Qatar lounges and partner lounges on a Business Fare, including the ones listed here at Australian port of arrival.
    • You get priority baggage and check-in benefits at the airport.
    • You only get seat selection for the flight leaving Australia to Doha. Seat selection fees applies to the Doha-Europe segment.

  • Booking on Qatar Airways, with a Privilege Club number attached:
    • You'll earn the following QPoints to Doha one way (then QPoints range from how many miles you travel, see here) based on the fare class you book in:
      • Lite (P): 35
      • Classic (R): 58
      • Comfort (D, I): 88
      • Elite (C, J): 96
    • You'll get lounge access to all Qatar lounges and partner lounges on a Business fares that are Comfort and above.
      • Business Lite customers can choose to pay a fee to access a lounge, or can use their Privilege Club status to access.
      • At Australian ports of entry, if you are booked on a Qatar Airways flight on behalf of Virgin Australia (QR codeshares), you will not have access to all Qantas lounges as per Oneworld policy. Follow the link here to see which lounges you can gain access to.
    • You get priority baggage and check-in benefits at the airport.
    • You will only get seat selection if you book in Comfort or Elite. Seat selection is available for a fee on Lite and Classic.
      • Seat selection is complimentary on Lite or Classic if you have Privilege Club Gold or Platinum status.

Keep in mind that you will not receive QPoints if you choose to book on Virgin Australia using your Privilege Club number.

As a QR silver member, you also have lounge access if you fly on a QR marketed/operated flight, priority check-in and boarding.

In BNE, it’s the AIRNZ lounge, silver lounge in Doha which is just a very small cafeteria.
