With HSBC closing down its retail operations in 18 months time, I have started looking around for an alternative. I really don't want to do business with the Big 4, or their subsidiaries, so have given Macquarie and ING the once over.

What other banks are current HSBC customers looking at?

I went with Macquarie. I hate the big 4.

Negatives: No physical building, cant deposit cash or cheques, cant TF money overseas, no credit card.

Not deal breakers however :)

I plan to use Amex where it is accepted and some US credit cards. I am running with HSBC until it ceases.
Both Chase and Citi are ok.

I've already got ING and MacBank for transaction accounts. I also have a legacy credit card with them ( from when it was a Hilton card )
