Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

I'm guessing a chicken cutlet (or crumbed chicken) topped with tomato salsa (maybe spicy) with melted cheese and a couple of jalapenos, accompied with some sweet potato fries?
Don't forget the measly serve of spinach

Options were a pasta with chicken and mushrooms I think or the beef with mustard gravy and polenta. Went the later and al though it wasn’t a huge portion of beef it was tender and delicious. All up a pretty tasty dish and would order again. The usual cheese and crackers on the side and then chocolate basket afterwards. Ethan was fantastic again and although a flight time of exactly an hour meals were served promptly and drinks proactively topped up. Managed a couple of vodkas with the meal and then as we were about to start our descent was asked if we wanted another in a takeaway coffee cup. Why not 🤣
Excellent flight and service

the ticket cost no matter how high or low only entitles you to to arrive at your destination.
That's not what companies sell when they sell a business class product. If I spent 10k on international business class flights and the seat didn't recline and they forgot to load on any alcohol or the business class food and only had economy class meals then to be frank it wouldn't really matter that they got me to my destination, because they wouldn't have provided me with the service that I had paid for.

Meal selection is absolutely a "nice to have" instead of a "must have", but to say that by paying more for business class you're entitled to nothing more than you would be flying in economy (getting to your destination) is just justifying poor airline treatment and excusing a race to the bottom.

I just had the same meal this evening: beef with mustard jus, creamy polenta, and a side of vegetables. I agree, the beef was quite tender and tasty.

The alternative was potato gnocchi with leek and mushroom ragout and roast pumpkin, with optional chicken. From what I overheard, it was a very popular choice.

Mel_syd syd-cns, both morning flight 6am dep from mel.
Hadn't flown virgin for few months and forgot how friendly they are, I really like it and prefer over QF.
Egg type pancake with beans & real bacon
2nd flight had same but on delivery the egg was little different, was more like a bread. Anyway I went the chocolate crepes which were super good, if your like a sweet breaky. I chose it more to try n see. The 2 health type balls were excellent.
Cabin crew were just bloody good both flights.

Based on the description, I expected something green: “pesto pasta salad with pumpkin and chicken”. But no, apparently it’s “pumpkin pesto” 🤔 On a short flight so it was served cold (but would have been improved with a zap in the microwave).

Things didn’t get better with the second flight. There was a choice of pulled beef with potato and pesto, or spinach and cheese tortellini with tomato and leek cream. I was excited about the tortellini until the “and leek cream”. A simple tomato sauce would have been terrific, but leeks are a no. Unfortunately there were also lots of hidden onions in the pulled beef, which was not the only reason it was inedible. Terrible flavour combinations. The cheese and crackers did some heavy lifting on these flights. My neighbour also abandoned his pulled beef. The best VA meals are those that don’t try to be fancy and combine all sorts of random flavours. The Thai green chicken curry, for instance.
