Does anyone have any idea for the deal?

I bought the 2018 vintage a while ago and sent it back, it didn't live up to the hype or the $40 price let alone the fanciful $200 RRP. Not game to go back for the 2021.

Yeah my case of the 16 Stonewell was promptly sent back. I found the wine way too flat and thought raised questions over past storage.

Thanks for heads up - tried a 2016 tonight and completely agree. Not convinced it will improve and now tempted to return

Just exactly how "Stonewell" is this 2015 from Vinomofo?

As pointed out above, the back label says it's "produced" by Peter Lehmann Wines at Tanunda, and "imported" into Dublin by Casella Family Brands (Europe).

Also, the carton is plain (which is in my guess is a cost thing so they don't produce different packaging for each country?) but has big stickers that say the wine is "produced and bottled" by Casella Family Brand at Yenda (ie nowhere near Tanunda, the Barossa or even South Australia).

Lastly and perhaps least of all:

• the front label is different to the 2011 that I have. It might be just me but I think it's odd that they change front label of a flagship wine, even for export.
• the bottles are not individually wrapped in tissue paper as per previous purchases, but that may also be a 6-pack case thing.

Is it usual for this or other flagship wines to be produced and bottled 600kms away from where the grapes are from, by another entity? How can we have confidence, or even know, that it's Stone Well grapes in the bottle?

Feels like a less than flagship experience but perhaps commensurate with the discount price.

Casella has owned Peter Lehmann Wines since January 2015.
Wine labels, even premiums are tweaked quite often.

If you can be bothered could you upload a photo of the front and back labels? Are you saying the front doesn't look like this?

Yenda is home base and Corporate HQ for Casella. I suspect the 2015 vintage would have been processed in the Barossa, but it's common to move finished wine elsewhere for bottling. I don't have any recent Stonewell, but a 2018 Mentor Cabernet has "Produced by Peter Lehmann Wines Tanunda" and the "Imported by Casella Wines Dublin", so another one that didn't make it to export. It's not that common for wines destined for Euro export would go there then come back, due to cost, but it probably does happen.

I think cancelled export or returned exports with different labelling should be disclosed by the seller/retailer. One concern with different labelling and export wine etc is they can often be bottled at a later date, which can affect the outcome.

Well good to hear at least the main label is the same.

Yeah, they have tweaked it over the years. The 2019 which is released in the last year has had a major change (see below). Personally I don't like it, pretty boring.

Agreed @Lux. You don't drink the label as they say but such changes detract from the tradition and prestige imo.
