So, name a Halliday 100 point wine that's not a Muscat?
No I can't. But Halliday is just one person, not everyone has to agree with his opinion. And indeed many don't. Your response implies that Halliday is the only or best judge of good wine.

Personally I really like Muscat and think this is a really good example of it. But as a general principle my taste does not 100% align with his and there are other wine critics who's scores I rate higher because they better align with my tastes. Don't get me wrong I think this is a very good wine. But the fact that Halliday rates it 100 probably contributes about 10% of less in making that assessment.

Is this wine as good as it sounds!?

Yes - if it's not, then you could always return or gift the remainder

Traditionally, the 100yo Seppeltsfield Para Vintage Tawny

So how much do Nick Stock/James Suckling's 100 and Gary Walsh's 97 contribute? :)

All the other scores, perhaps with the exception of Huon Hooke's 98 from last May, arose out of earlier batches

CRAFTING
In the winery, the grapes were handled carefully to retain the individual fruit flavours which were developed in the vineyard. Partial barrel fermentation followed by 18 months maturation in French oak barrels (20% new) has given the 2014 Tannery Block an elegant structure and a long finish.

Hi Aaardvark,

Welcome to the forum, keep an eye on the current thread and this thread for some recommendations on good value wines as they arise. Cellary is also a good website for getting tips on VM Black Market wines.

I don't know what your taste is, and what price point you like to play in, but at the moment there is nothing on VM that is tickling my fancy, YMMV.

Being something of a big-boned red lover I am mildly excited by the premise of this wine but it would seem to be an unknown quantity as kevviek points out, the only reviews I can see are european so the export only theory would hold true. Interesting how the winery markets it as 14.7% but everyone else is calling it 15% ABV, I'm intrigued but not enough to press the boom button unless someone on the thread has had a positive experience they wish to share....
