Vinomofo Wine Deals

G'day folks, took a long time to find this VM forum, knew one must exist :D

As the name suggest usually drink our Shiraz but tonight opened a VM "Think O/S the Circle" Cab Sav and thoroughly enjoyed a glass.

Mixed VM box arrived today, any thoughts about the 2014 MAVERICK Ahrens Creek Shiraz ?

Might be a special night one.

regards to all, Peter

A testament to everyone having their own tastes. Most here didn't rate the TOStC at all. Maybe look for notes from W&D as I think he picked up the same mixed case as you.

Welcome to the frequent wine lovers area of Australian Frequent flyer forum ozshiraz :)

Have just taken delivery of the Shiraz LaBoeuf and Co. case and just thought I'd trot out the contents not that there are any great surprises:

1 x 2014 Maverick Ahrens Creek
1 x 2015 Capel Vale Cellar Exclusive
2 x 2014 Richard Hamilton
2 x 2013 Chain of Ponds Graves Gate
2 x 2013 Anarchist Mt Benson
2 x 2015 Norfolk Rise Mt Benson

I've twisted the top off a Norfolk Rise and obviously I'm not expecting Chateau Margaux for $10 but.....it's OK, certainly not bowled over by it, still very young and might be more exciting in a few years time but I'm kinda glad I didn't jump on a dozen of these when they first came around! Still slightly suffering the aftermath of a bout of sinusitis so I'm probaly being a bit harsh, quite stoked to have received the bottle of Maverick Ahrens Creek in the case though...

Thanks Vedder & Steady.

Rec'd the same case W&D, look fwd to yr thoughts on the Maverick - the rest of contents in our box same as yrs.

Have plenty of Norfolk Rise previous buys, s/i/l likes it also. Not a big wine but good quaffer. Out of interest did quick searches of ea wine, prob. $100 cheaper on the box than buying individually elsewhere.

The only other we've had is the Capel Vale, some on hand still, yep - quite a nice one :D

Wished I'd found this Forum couple of years back, thoroughly enjoying it :D

I haven't been able to identify it, looked at most of the likely 5 Red Star McLaren Vale wineries, but it may be one listed under another region. Or it could be another made-for-VM special deal that hasn't listed on a website yet.

According to the blurb, it's "The kind of shiraz B-grade pretenders could only aspire to be." Quite impressive for a wine that's also reportedly only 15% shiraz.

Mitolo site does not show any Cab/Shiraz of $50. Usual practice is for said wine being displayed, unless it's on it's way.

I have a pretty strong suspicion that it is a "made for Vinomofo" wine, I think they can state that it would cost "blah blah blah" from the winery without stipulating that it is available on-line or at the bottle shop, but I'm only guessing...

Greetings Ozshiraz, I feel much the same way as you about stumbling across this forum! It has certainly made the whole process of ordering stuff through Vinomofo much less fraught (i.e. fewer returns) and the other wine-orientated topics are well worth a visit such as the Dan Murphy & other deals thread. As far as the latest mixed case goes I've only dipped into the Norfolk Rise (on second tasting last night V50 found it had opened up a bit more and was certainly not a dud :)) but am curious to sample the rest of the contents to see whether I want to nab a full case when VM offers them again. The Maverick I am holding back for that "special occasion" as it's got some serious gravitas even just looking at the hefty bottle!
