A bit late, but finally opened the Lou Miranda Golden Lion 2014. Looked, smelt and tasted ok at first, but in the ensuing hours tasted sweeter and sweeter. Almost a sweet port by the end - is it me or where do those syrup come from..

It seems that VM has finally get rid of the Mitolo Cantiniere Shiraz 2013! :D

Was it really that bad? I didn't get any so is a serious question. . .

Depends on who you talk to. I found it fine, I drank it over 3 or 4 days and found the flavour improved each day. Wouldnt rush out to buy more but it wasnt a bad wine.

Any ideas on todays mof_ Secret Deal GSM 2012 ? Is it the Hewitson ?

Its a bit strange - the email says it is back by popular demand then there is a mof_ newbie banner displayed

I don't have time to investigate properly at the moment, but could it be the Twins? Seems unlikely since they've sold a couple more recent vintages, but some the basic details such as price and region looked the same.

I'm suspecting it is. Tasting note on Wine Companion is by CM, region is "Adelaide Hills", and score matches. Price doesn't, but could be museum release "special" pricing that VM makes up. Wine Companion says it's a "Grenache Mourvedre Shiraz Cinsault Carignan" blend though, rather than GSM.

Maverick Twins GSM 2012 got 89 on Wine Companion.

Doesn't it say Barossa Valley on VM rather than Adelaide hills?? Certainly curious after the Small Berries failed to float my dinghy...

Hewitson Miss Harry - right $ Barossa
IfI could drink red blends from the South of France every night of the week - Wine companions says Rhone style.

Only issue is its not new to VM, so could be way off ??????

Says "South Australia" in the email. Actual wine is called "Hewitson Miss Harry Barossa Valley Grenache Mourvedre Shiraz Cinsault Carignan", so lines up with Barossa Valley as the region on the VM page

Has the 2012 vintage been offered before? I don't recall...

Edit: fixed wine name - cut-n-pasted from from Wine Companion page. Ned & Henry 2012 got 96

The last time they were selling Miss Harry it was vintage 2013. This one is 2012; if it's also Miss Harry, maybe that's what's "new"?

I have tried the 2012 Miss Harry twice. The first time I really enjoyed it, but on the second try I was put off by the heat on the finish. (That leaves me in a quandary: which time was I right?)

It's not a "big" wine so the mof_ spiel about "I'm normally a pinot drinker"' etc. is probably fair enough marketing (assuming it actually is the Hewitson).

Not doubting your investigative prowess I just thought that the region mismatch was enough to count it our of the running :) Doesn't Miss Harry match it quite well?

My apologies - did a cut-n-paste from the from web page. Miss Harry 2012 got 94 from CM (fixed previous post). The N&H got 96 in 2012.
